Note:According
to José Arguelles in his book, THE MAYAN FACTOR - Path Beyond Technology,
the Mayans employed a binary numbering system which used "20"
as its base. This system, rather than progressing by tens as we are used
to, progressed by a factor of 20. In the first position a unit equals 1.
In the second position a unit then equals 20. In the third it progresses
to 400 (20 x 20), in the fourth it equals 8000, and so on. Arguelles also
says the Mayans were not so concerned with the sequential aspects of numbers
as they were with the relationships between numbers. To the Mayans numbers
meant far more than just a means of quantification. To them, numbers were
symbols representing the harmonic values and overtones of the dynamic energies
of the galaxy. In simple terms, numbers represent "the way life and
the universe work". Key to the Mayan system are the numbers 13 and
20. These two numbers factored together, and equaling 260, form the great
matrix known as the Tzolkin. It is upon this 13 x 20 matrix that the entire
Mayan philosophy is based. The other key numbers are 7, 4, and 9.
The number 9, to the Mayans, symbolized the concepts of periodicity
and completeness and also represented, according to Arguelles, "the
nine Lords Of Time", the original Mayan galactic masters who may have
come to earth to present us with a KEY (see grid below) to understanding
the universe and our place in it. (Note, by the way, the title of the book
by Arguelles, THE MAYAN FACTOR, happens to equal 135. 1+3+5=9. Just
a little more synchronicity!)
As noted, besides the number 9, the number 260 was of
utmost importance. This was the number of days in a cycle which
correlated to sun spot cycles and was at the foundation of their whole
system of prophecy.
The number 260 interested me because in terms of my own work
it seemed out of place in a way. It's digits add up to 8. So many
of the other multi-digit numbers which are generated in the course of toying
with Mayan mathematics have a single-digit value of 9 (for example
360 or 144,000 and many others). In my own work, which has
revolved around the number 9 and the English alphabet, I was somewhat
bothered by the fact that the alphabet consisted of only 26 letters.
The single-digit value of 26 is 8. There had been so much
"9" stuff coming out in my work, it just seemed like it
would all be quite complete (in a neat and tidy sense!) if the alphabet
had just one more letter to make it 27! The single-digit value would
then be 9. But wishful thinking wasn't going to change anything.
There was either something wrong with the picture or there was something
I was just not seeing. Which was it? Then I discovered two things which
helped answer the question.
I noticed that the first letter A
(single digit value of 1) added to
the last letter Z (value of
8) equals 9! Likewise, B (2) added
to Y (7)
equals 9! And the same for every combination of letters working
forward from the front of the alphabet and backwards from the end of the
alphabet: C(3)+X(6)=9, D(4)+W(5)=9, and so
on all the way to the center where M(4) meets N(5). Nice and
neat! Secondly, this could be seen as a circle, with "A"
connected to "Z". A circle? Of 26 letters? How cool! This
harmonized with the idea of the Mayan 260 day cycle! Cycle / Circle! 26
/ 260!
I also learned from Arguelles that, in a manner of speaking, the Mayans
had a problem similar to my own. It seems this system based on the 260
matrix was not particularly suited to the planet Earth, at least in terms
of computing basic cycles of time. So they modified the system to more
closely correspond to the annual revolution of our planet around the sun.
This modification brought the number 9 into the picture in a big
way as the modification involved changing the third position number from
400 to 360, a multiple of 9! From this position onward the base
20 progression now yielded units which were all harmonics of 9 (1: 20:
360: 7200: 144,000: etc.)
. Now I was beginning to see that maybe the English alphabet
was alpha-numerically encoded somehow and, if so, what secrets might it
reveal? Could this be a KEY to unlocking
some hidden messages encoded within some ancient text? Would it help reveal
information encoded within certain words? (Related
to this idea, see the NOTE which follows this one regarding Zahi Hawass)
Talk about synchronicity... On a whim (or call it intuition), I decided
to take the Mayan 13 x 20 grid and replace their numbers within the boxes
of the grid with the letters of the alphabet. The Mayans had numbered the
boxes vertically, from top to bottom, starting in the upper left corner
and ending at the lower right corner. So it seemed logical to arrange the
letters of the alphabet in the same way. (See grid
at right. The numbers along the left side of the grid do not relate to the
Mayan system. They represent my 9-series number system)
Imagine my surprise when the first thing that popped out at me
was the word "KEY" right
their on the top line and to top it all off it was right under the numbers
8, 9,
1; the same series of numbers which
seem to figure prominently in the Gematria
I've been developing.

Note: As noted on the
Gematria page regarding the alpha-numeric
patterns, there is a sequence of numbers which appears as 1-8-9 (back to
this in a moment). Also as noted in the introduction to the article
on "Crowley/Zahi Hawass" there are
connections between our Grek-5 experience, the Crowley issue, Zahi
Hawass, and the Gematria or Numerological research I've been doing. What
has not been emphasized to this point is the phenomenon of "synchronicity"
which has pervasively accompanied this work as well as events in my daily
life. As this work continues I am becoming convinced that "synchronicity"
is somehow intimately connected with the process of this work.
One of the early synchronistic discoveries was this:
Regarding the 1-8-9
sequence, I discovered there are only eight letters in the entire 26-letter
alphabet which have the numerical value of either 1
or 8 or 9. Out
of those eight letters four of them spell ZAHI,
the first name of Dr. Hawass, the Director of Antiquities At Giza in Egypt.
Coincidence? What are the odds?

Note:The
graphic to the right is the Jewish Qabalah diagram of the "Tree Of
Life". The Tree Of Life is a conceptual schematic showing the descent
of the devine into the material world and, conversely, the path of ascent
by which the physical human can reach the devine. In essence it is thought
to represent the structure of all reality.
TheTreeOfLife
The graphic below (let's call it the Circle Of Consciousness)
is the result of a curious circular pattern I discovered in the list of
19 words we received from the Grek-5 source.
The list of words:
(1) SPECTOR, (2) MIND, (3) YOU, (4) EARTH, (5) GREK-5, (6)SPECTOR-1, (7) GOD, (8) TIME, (9) LOVE, (10) PAX, (11) SPECTOR-11, (12) XESTAO, (13) GOD-9,
(14) FIRSON, (15) LASON, (16) HABITON, (17) KNOWLEDGE, (18) BABION, (19) DIX (Note- do not confuse the numbers in this list
with the numbers shown in the Tree Of Life. There is no relationship that
I know of. The numbers in the list show the order in which the words were
listed.)
The circular pattern (not referring to the shape of the
diagram but to the function it represents) involved the words MIND,
EARTH, GOD, and TIME. Notice the progression begins with 2.MIND
and ends with 2.MIND. It occurred to me that this might imply, in
some sense, the structure of human earth-bound consciousness, or perhaps
idicates the elements of human earth-bound consciousness.
The numbers in pink represent the number-position of the word as it appeared
on the list.
The numbers in orange represent the numerological
value of the word.
The smaller black numbers along the sides indicate
the sums (reduced to single digits) of the numbers identified by the diagonal
arrows.
The black numbers at the bottom of each side indicate
the sum of the numbers along the sides.
The black number at the bottom in the center is
the sum of the eight numbers in the diagram. (Note
that the number "2" in the bottom box (left hand column) is not
included in this sum because it is merely a "mirror image" of
the "2" at the top of that column)
This is how the diagram would appear in circular form.
