then you can enter the garden. I am there, tending tomatoes
I am learning to enjoy and speaking soft words to
tiny grapes who refuse to grow under the sun.
There will be wine next year.
I feel I must warn you first. The winter may be long
and the vines may freeze well into the summertime.
The wine may come only in the year after next.
I live in a harsh land. I can't say that I prefer it,
because it's all I know, but
the water in February is so cold
you don't have to drink until April
and at the end of July,
there is a span of about four days
which leaves you tanned until the winter solstice.
