Who are The Hadleys?
Well first off we were high school sweethearts, married
for 31 years this August '99. We have 3 children and one
grandson.
From the time we were just teenagers, we enjoyed doing
many things together. Our very first common interest was
gymnastics. On the same team in Santa Fe, New Mexico, we grew
to be great friends, learning from one another enjoying the
many interests we had in common, as the love of nature, we
loved to fish, camp and just be together. Our sports lives
were full too. Even as Dale continued his gymnastics in
college at New Mexico State University I was still by his
side.
Dale was drafted and went into the Navy and was not able
to continue his coaching degree, so we found other ways to
participate and volunteer our coaching abilities. After Dale
got out of the Navy in 1972, we started our own business
which gave us time to coach girls volleyball, play golf,
bowl, fish, and of course, raise 3 beautiful children. Our
son is the oldest, and we have 2 daughters.
Dale first picked up the interest in Wood Carving when he
was in Vietnam. He picked up a broomstick and with a
pocketknife, he started whittling away. What he carved was a
chain. What ever happened to that chain, I don't know. Now I
wished that I had it. Although I still have his first carving
of a gymnasts, in a hand stand position. He got the idea by
looking at one of his gymnastic trophies. There were times
that he was unable to carve do to the everyday busy life.
Soon others saw his interest in it and his Mother bought him
his first set of carving tools. The artist in the making, He
now is constantly pursuing the many ways to create his art.
He got me also interested in painting his carvings, which
gives them the final touch. Together we try to bring them to
life, they all have their own personality, and no two are
alike.
