   Calling All Referees!!

It is a cry we all far to often hear on the the local parks, non - league, and professional football.  REFEREE!!!!!! The player cannot believe that you have made such a silly decision, everbody knows it was our throw in, free kick, corner kick etc...., but we have to ask ourseleves what can we do to insure that players don't need to question our decision (or the orgin of our parents for that matter).
The answer is actually quite simple if a referee looks like he has absolute conviction in his decision making, signals, and the way he/she talks to players it will all help.
Too often, referees get stuck with the want for a better name a 'little hitler', I believe that we only have ourselves to blame for this, I am sure we have all met such a referee who treats the players with the up most disrespect, and he complains when the players give him the same back, afterall, respect is a two way street.
The only way forward is to develop better working relationships between players and referees and each parties stop treating each other like the sworn enemy.

Your Football Needs You!

Calling all players, managers, fans, your local league needs you now more than ever.  As referee's continue to get stick from all angles of the game it is the grass roots level that suffers.  New referees see the stick that we get and thin 'I can do without all that, why bother?'

Unless new referee's are found for the grass roots football as we know it could soon be none existent, but do the authorites bother, NO, and thast's because they will always have people to referee the games.

Let's take for example to recent Management Report into the RA, has anybody actually sat down and read it word for word?  I  don't think so.
Forty eight points were made on how to improve the RA, how many will actually be taken onboard?  Only the points which don't upset the 'applecart' will be taken on board, afterall council will make the final decision over any points, and god forbid they may put themselves in firing line.

Take for example on recomendation:-
The council should not consist of anybody over 60 years of age.
This would almost totally wipe out the whole council, it would be like them loading their own gun to shoot them with, it just won't happen.  And until it does the RA can never move into the 20th century never mind the 21st Century.

Would ask that all referee's begin to make a stand against the powers in the game, afterall, if it wasn't for us football could not be played.

The points raised above is not always the views of the Nelson & Colne Referees Society, or its members, it is totally one person opinion unless signed by society Sec, Chairman.
