How God changed my life

I was born into a religious family to loving parents who both worked. As I grew older, I started to see how alone I was. At my confirmation (Methodist) and many of the families in my church at the time treated it like it was graduation from Sunday school. Disillusioned, I kept going to church but indulging in pornography, swearing up a storm, and giving full vent to my anger. I did not start indulging in alcohol until after high school for fear that I might break someone's bones when I was drunk.

One time, I went to a science fiction convention with some friends. On that Friday night me, a self-proclaimed Discordian, and a reputed Satanist (voted "Most likely to be...) all got very drunk. We even toasted to a foreign god to help us get really toasty. When I woke up the next morning, some of my other friends told me that they thought I was going to die choking on my puke. I vowed never to drink again. Then I was drunk the next weekend. I started to realize how much control I really had. I put my search for the truth into high gear.

I was at the end of my undergraduate career then. Was taking an additional class at a community college while looking for work in computers. I was talking with a friend of mine when Jim Brandt and Jeremy Walldrop asked me to come to their Bible Talk. I went and saw how much they were unified in pure love with one another (I had not seen that in any church or parachurch group I had been in). I then studied the Bible with Bernard Go, got rid of all the misunderstandings I had about God, and started a real relationship with him! I was then baptized and began my new life! I was no longer a slave to pornography, anger, swearing or booze! God changed my life and can change yours, too!

Its been a few years since I wrote this…The ICOC has gone though many changes (see Blog 1 for some more on this) in those years.  That being said, however, does not negate the impact on my life that the Master had on me during the times described above.
