Willie's music is the perfect example of how poetry is enhanced with the addition of music. Willie's sensitive lyric poetry is woven with his whimsical sense of humor and tucked snugly into his catchy and beautifuly crafted tunes. A genuine rock poet!
I've been a Willie Nile fan since the late New York Times rock critic Robert Palmer discovered him in Greenwich Village. He has recorded and played live with The Who, Ringo Starr, Lucinda Williams, Roger McGuinn, Barenaked Ladies, Tori Amos, Richard Thompson, The Clash, Elvis Costello, The Pretenders, Loudon Wainwright, The Band, John Mellencamp, and many others. Several bands and musicians have recorded his songs including the Hooters, Richie Havens, and Curtis Stigers. If you are lucky you might catch him live around New York City, New Jersey and the East Coast. He frequently has concerts in Europe and has many fans in Ireland, England, Italy, Sweden and Spain.
Willie was inducted into the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame on September 29, 2005.
Click on the link below to hear a recording of a Pete Fornatale Mixed Bag interview of Willie on 90.7FM WFUV radio. Pete did a great interview, and Willie performed some of his music, old and new. Here you will get a chance to hear "The Day I Saw Bo Diddley in Washington Square", a song from his soon to be released CD. This song is destined to put Willie in the limelight.
If you like original music with a mixture of folk, rock and bit of a celtic flair, you'll enjoy Willie Nile.
Check him out, you won't be disappointed!!
