Welcome to my Trans Am site, a place for me to show off my car. Let me know what you think.

History...
In 1982 GM unvailed the brand new third generation F-body. The new Camaros and Firebirds were all new from the ground up, and had many advantages. They were more streamlined, and had a new "cockpit-like" (GM's word, not mine) interior. In my opinion the 3rd gen. cars are some of the coolest f-bodies. Pontiac celibrated the new firebird with a new special edition Trans Am. The Recaro Trans Am included limited edition Recaro seats, "RECARO TA" decals, and special black and gold paint scheme. Only about 2,000 of the Recaro TA's were built, and those Recaro seats only found there way in to one other Trans Am- The 1984 Anniversary.

As for mine...
When I found this Recaro Trans Am it was in pretty bad shape. Still I really wanted a V8 manual transmission car that I could work on, and since I always loved Firebirds since Knight Rider, and Smokey and the Bandit, I just had to have this car. And after learning that it was a rare edition (maybe even collectable) it was a done deal. I drove the car off and straight to the paint shop, where I got rid of the black-kinda-grey-kinda-brown paint in favor of a new jet black spray. The only bad part being that now the birds and gold stripes are gone. But the outside is not where the real money is. The money is under the hood.

The Future
This, of course, is only the start. There are three areas yet to be attacked. Two are farly obvious when reading the modification list. Number one is a performance cam. I bought the stock long block and strapped it right in, but now I'm looking for a little more. I have desided to go with a Comp Cams Magnum Series 280H. It has 230 degrees of duration @ .050" on both the intake and exaust sides and .480 lift on both sides. It should be pretty radical. The second problem is that I am currently running stock heads, but this should be taken care of soon. A coworker (at a local Chevy dealer) has sold me a set of performance heads that he built for his 350 Nova. They are 64cc "double humps"They are ported, polished, shaved, have big Manley valves, screw in studs and Manley guide plates and should raise my compresion to some where between 9.5 and 10:1. Together with the Magnum cam it should be stout. The last problem area is the exterior. I really miss the gold bird on the hood, and the Trans Am's on the doors. But that doesn't really make it faster, so it can wait. Once I get the cam and heads in I should be ready to go to the track this summer. What should I do next to get the most out of this 350?
UPDATE--------->>>Ok, scrap all that! I've just aquired a Pontiac 400 motor out of a 69 GTO. I've got lots of plans for it, but lets just say that it Desktop Dynoed at 475 horsepower! I also bought a 2.5 inch cowl hood for it. The swap is a complicated one, but i'm determined to have a poncho powered T/A. Email me at Relfbosk@home.com with pics of your 3rd gen T/A, info on the Pontiac motor/3rd gen car swap, or if you interested in buying those "double hump" heads. You can also me my car at www.rearman.com. or www.fbody.com.
Thanks.
