Crocheted with the new bulky Lily Sugar 'n Cream Crafters Cotton and using a padded stitch, this hanger needs no additional padding!
Difficulty level: ** (advanced beginner)
Materials: About 3 ounces Lily Sugar 'n Cream Crafter's Cotton (Santa Fe Ombre was used in the sample), Boye hook size N, wooden coat hanger, yarn needle with very large eye Gauge: Rows 1-4 = about 1 ½" x 15 ½" Finished size of crocheted piece: about 3" x 15 ½"
Ch 26 Row 1: Sc in the back loop only of the 2nd ch from hook and in the back loop only of each remaining ch across; ch 1, turn. (25 sc) Row 2: Insert hook in the back loop only of the first sc and into the first unworked loop in the foundation ch, complete the sc, (insert hook in the back loop only of the next sc and into the next unworked loop in the foundation ch, complete the sc) 24 times; ch 1, turn. (25 sc) Rows 3-7: Insert hook in the back loop only of the first sc and into the first unworked loop in the previous row, complete the sc, (insert hook in the back loop only of the next sc and into the next unworked loop in the previous row, complete the sc) 24 times; ch 1, turn. (25 sc) Row 8: Insert hook in both loops of the first sc and into the first unworked loop in the previous row, complete the sc, (insert hook in both loops only of the next sc and into the next unworked loop in the previous row, complete the sc) 24 times. (25 sc) Fasten off, leaving a 40" yarn tail for sewing.
Finishing Center the crocheted piece over the top of the hanger and insert the hook in a space between the stitches. Fold crochet piece around the wooden arms of the hanger. Thread needle with yarn tail and sew row 8 to the foundation chain, pulling stitches tightly. Sew ends of crochet piece around the ends of the hanger. Weave in ends.
