Toddler’s Lacy Poncho
This is a VERY easy pattern!
Materials:
4 ply worsted weight yarn (my granddaughter lives in AZ., so I always use worsted weight cotton.)
I used 2 colors, a MAIN COLOR approximately 3 oz.
and a CONTRASTING COLOR approximately 1 oz.
Size 1T - 2T = “G” hook
Size 3T – 4T = “I” hook [instructions in ( )]
Neck band:
Row 1: With CONTRASTING COLOR, chain 6. Work 1 single crochet in each chain (5 single crochet).
Rows 2-48 (52): Chain 1, working in back loop only, work 1 single crochet in each stitch across. Repeat for indicated number of rows.
Leave a 12” tail of yarn and fasten off. Using remaining tail of yarn, whip stitch short ends together.
Body:
Row 1: With MAIN COLOR, work 1 single crochet in the end of each row of the neckband. 48 single crochet (52 single crochet). Join.
Row 2: Chain 3 (counts as first double crochet), work 1 double crochet in same space; work 2 double crochet in each remaining stitch around. Join. 96 double crochet (104 double crochet).
Row 3: Chain 1, single crochet in same space. *Chain 3, skip 1 stitch, work 1 single crochet in next stitch.* repeat around. Join.
Row 4: Slip stitch into 1st chain 3 space. *Chain 3, 1 single crochet into next chain 3 space.* Repeat around.
Rows 5 – 24 (28): Repeat Row 4.
Trim:
Attach CONTRASTING COLOR with slip stitch into any chain 3 space. Work 1 single crochet, 1 double crochet, 1 single crochet in each chain 3 space around. Fasten off and weave in ends.
