Hand Towel and Washcloth
Materials:
4 ply worsted weight cotton yarn, colors as desired
Small amount of crochet cotton size 10, for trim
“G” hook
Approx. sizes: Towel 11x22”; washcloth 8x8”
Towel:
Row 1 Ch 40, work sc in each st across, ch 1 turns.
Row 2 *sc in first st, ch 1, skip 1 st, sc in next*; repeat across, ch 1 turn.
Row 3 *sc in first st, dc in next ch 1 loop*, repeat across, ch 1 turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 alternately until desired length, approx. 22”.
If bands of contrasting color are desired finish “row 3 pattern” by drawing new
color
through the last 2 loops of the last sc on the row, ch1 and turn. Weave ends in
as you
work.
Work bands as desired.
Washcloth:
Row 1 Ch 30, work sc in each st across, ch 1 turns.
Row 2 Repeat as for towel until approx. 8” square.
Trim:
For towel:
Row 1 Work sc in each stitch across, this may be done with a color to
contrast or
accent the main body of the towel or with the same color as the body of the
towel.
Row 2 With size 10 crochet cotton, *work sc, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st*,
repeating
across and ending with a sc.
Finish by weaving in all ends.
For washcloth:
Row 1 Work sc in each stitch across and 1 sc in the ends of each row on the
sides.
Row 2 With size 10 crochet cotton, *work sc, skip 1 st, 5 dc in next st* repeat
around and ending with a sc.
Finish by weaving in all ends.
