Materials:
4 ply worsted weight yarn (this is another great scrap pattern)
Color 1 = solid color from the variegated (The first round is done with 2 strands of the solid color).
Color 2 = variegated colors from your scrap bag (The second round is done with 1 strand of the solid color together with 1 strand of the variegated).
Color 3 = Navy Blue or color to match your decor (The third round is done with 2 strands of the Navy Blue or color of your choice).

Hold 2 strands of yarn together throughout
Round 1: With Color 1, chain 4. Join to make a circle. Work chain 3 (1st dc), 2dc, chain 2. Work 3dc, chain 2 x 3. Join with slip stitch to top of first chain 3. Fasten off.
Round 2: With color 2, join with a slip stitch in any chain 2 space. Chain 3 (1st dc), 2dc, chain 2, 3dc in same space. *Chain 1. Work 3dc, chain 1, 3dc in next chain 2 corner space.* Repeat x 2. Join with slip stitch to top of first chain 3. Fasten off.
Round 3: With color 3, join with a slip stitch in any chain 2 corner space. Chain 3 (1st dc), 2dc, chain 2, 3dc in same space. *Chain 1. Work 3 dc in next chain 1 space. Work 3dc, chain 2, 3dc in next corner.* Repeat x 2. Join with slip stitch to top of first chain 3. Fasten off.
Joining
You can whip stitch the squares together, or use any method of joining you prefer. The rectangular rug is in a 4 x 3 square grid.
The contour rug is assembled in a 3 x 3 square grid. 2 extra squares are added
on each side of the top, above the 3x3 grid.
