Good Granny Gracious
Baby Afghan or Adult Lapghan
Materials:
Bernat Super Value 4 ply WORSTED WEIGHT yarn
3 oz. Soft white
6 oz. Peach (pink, blue, mint green, lavender or yellow may be substituted for a baby; darker, more subdued colors for an adult.)
“H” hook
(Rose buds and small amount of ribbon if desired)
Yarn needle
Weave in all ends as you work.
Finished afghan is approximately 28“ x 33“.
Center Area:
4x6 squares
Granny Squares:
Round 1: With white, chain 5, join with slip stitch to make a ring. Chain 2, *yarn-over and draw loop through 2 loops x 3, chain 2 (3 dc cluster plus chain 1 made).* Repeat x 7. (8, 3 dc clusters made). Join to top of first cluster.
Round 2: With peach join with slip stitch in any chain space. Chain 3, work 2 dc, chain 2, 3 dc in this first corner. *Work 3dc in next chain space. Work 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc chain 2 3dc, in next chain space*, repeat around. Fasten to top of first chain 3. Fasten off.
Whip stitch squares together, in 6 rows of 4 squares.
Outer area:
Join white in the corner space of one end square. Work 3 dc, chain 2, 3 dc, in this corner. #Work 3 dc in each space between each “3 dc group”, across to the first seam. *Skip the corner on the current square. Work 2 dc in corner space of the next square, work 2 dc in the corner of the square just skipped. (This is a double cross stitch and works over the joining seam) Work 3 dc in each space between each “3 dc group”, across to the corner before the next seam*. Repeat across this side. Work 3dc, chain 2, 3 dc in the last corner of this side.# Repeat # # around.
Repeat for a total of 12 rows of white. Fasten off white.
Border:
Round 1: Attach peach in any corner space. Work 1 hdc in each stitch and space around working 3 hdc in each corner.
Round 2: Attach white in any stitch. Work 1 sc in each stitch around.
