Crocheted Lampshade Cover
Lampshade Cover
Flat view before gathering
Lampshade
Materials:
One sorrowful lampshade in need of a cover
Worsted weight cotton yarn in color desired for the shade body and a small amount of a contrasting color for the edging
“H” Hook
A length of Ό” ribbon to compliment your yarn choice. This should measure the distance around the top of your lampshade plus 18”

This pattern can be adapted to any size shade.
1. Measure the depth of the shade. This is how long you will make the piece.
2. Measure around the bottom edge of the shade. This will determine how long to make you starting chain.
3. The pattern stitch is a multiple of 9’s plus 4 stitches. When you have made your chain to the required length, count your stitches and add or subtract (only a few stitches) to fit the pattern repeats. It’s better to add if possible, because any overlap will be taken into account by gathering.

The sample was made for a shade 7” deep, with a bottom circumference of 25”.

Lampshade Cover:
Row 1:    Chain the required # of stitches you need to fit around the bottom of your shade. Keep in mind the stitches must be in multiples of 9, then add 4 more chains.
Row 2:    Work dc in 4th chain from hook and in each stitch across.
Row 3:    Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc here and throughout). Work 1 dc in each of next 3 stitches. Skip 2 stitches. *Work 2 dc, 3 trc, and 2 dc in next stitch. Skip 2 stitches. Work 1 dc in each of the next 4 stitches.* Repeat across.
Rows 4:    Chain 3 (counts as 1st dc here and throughout). Work 1 dc in each of next 3 stitches. *Work 1 large shell (7 dc in indicated stitch or space) in center stitch of shell below. Work 1 dc in each of next 4 stitches.* Repeat across.
Row 5-?:    Repeat Row 4 for required length.

Top Edging:
Working on the foundation chain end, with right side facing you, attach trim color yarn with single crochet between 1st & 2nd stitches. Chain 3, work 1 dc in side of 1st single crochet   *Skip 2 stitches, single crochet  between next 2 stitches. Work chain 3, 1 dc in side of this single crochet.* Repeat across, ending with a dc in side of last single crochet.

Weave ribbon through every other stitch of the 1st row. Gather evenly and tie around top edge of lampshade.
