Family News and
Gossip!
Kira
has been working at Harkin's Superstition Springs Movie
Theater since the first of May. It's the perfect job for a
teen. (And Chris' Dream Job) She not only gets paid and has
fun with her fellow employees, but she can go to any movie
any time free and take a friend for free with her and she
gets free popcorn and drinks. Also with every pay check she
gets 4 free guest passes that she can give away ( to her
parents). What a deal! She has also been taking English 101
& 102 at the community college this summer. She is
getting ready for her senior year. She is the Forensics team
president and taking less class this year so it should be a
good year for her.
Brian
took summer school at Jr High this year. It was for the
month of June and now he is just enjoying his summer. Now
alarm to wake up. No early bedtime. No homework. He thinks
this is the way life should always be. (Don't we all!!)
Devin
went to Boy Scout Camp at Camp Raymond outside of Flagstaff
for a week. He has a good time. He earned 5 merrit badges.
It rained most nights up there so his stuff got all wet and
everytime he got it dried out it rained again. (Us desert
folk aren't good with that wet stuff.) He took summer band
in June and tried the bassoon for awhile but he decided it
was to big. To bad he sounds really good on it. Devin also
earned himself enough money from Lemonade Sales and birthday
money that with the help of his brother they bought a new
Nintendo Game Cube. Now I can't pry them away from it.
Chris
now has a new job title. He is The Department of Public
Health Bio-Defense Preparedness and Response Administrative
Director. (You know the bigger the title the less time at
home.) Well he still has a lot of the same responsibilities
at work but now they are getting all the chemical and
diesease war fare thing in order. More Paper More Meetings.
But he likes the folks at work and making sure all the kids
and babies in the county can be immunized and taken care of.
A happy working daddy makes a happy family!
Lori
has been having a great summer!!! I'm being very lazy!!! I
ran taxi in June with Brian and Devin Summer School. Kira
and I painted the livingroom before we had to turn on the
air conditioner for the summer. It's not the painting that
takes the time, it's the moving and cleaning before hand
that kills you. We start school on Aug. 15 this year. This
summer they upgraded our old computers operating systems so
when I go back I have about 77 computer with no programs on
them that have to be reloaded. And you know all the teachers
will want thiers NOW!! I'm working on making a disc on my CD
burner that will install all the programs Or at least most
of the programs at one time to save myself sometime. I've
also been working on computer lessons for the teachers to
use during the year. Our lessons were written about 9 years
ago and a lot are out of date.
We
lost our rabbit "Lucky" in March. He got out of the backyard
and I don't suppose he survived the Arizona heat very long.
He was nine and I was broken hearted. Easter was tough with
all the rabbits everywhere and no bunny at home. We promised
Devin a dog when the rabbit died so we are going to get a
dog. The end of May we were at the mall and Chris picked up
a rabbit at the pet store and said "Let's take this one
home." And we did. It's a MiniLop white with gray "Patches"
(her name). She litter box trained really fast and is not
scared of the cats or dog or people. She short curcuits, the
kids say, every now and then and we see her sprinting
through the house from one end to the other and back kicking
up her heels.
We
spent the first 4 weeks of summer running from animal
shelter to pound and humane society looking for a little dog
for Devin. We finally found one. Female 3 1/2 yr old Lhaso
Apso/Pekinese mix. She doesn't bark, lick, or jump and walks
on a leash really well. She is 14" high and 24" long and
loves to ride in the car. Devin named her Truffles. You can
see a picture of her in the photo album
We
are enjoying our new computer. Chris made Lori a T-shirt and
mouse pad for Mother's Day.
We
are looking forward to having the Case's join us for
Thankgiving this year.
Kira
applied for Early Admission to Northern Arizona University
(like with her grades there would be a problem getting in!)
She got a letter of exceptance back and another letter that
gave her the Dean's Scholarship. Which is an all tuition
paid for 4 years and $500 a semester. We are so proud of
her! She didn't apply for scholarships yet but because of
her grades and activities they offered it to her before her
senior year. Way To Go Kira!!!
