Holiday Letter From the Poe's

Seasons Greetings From Sun Country
December 2001

Our love and best wishes go out to our friends and family for the New Year. We hope you are all well and happy. We are thankful for the many blessing we have recieved this last year. For our wonderful home, family and friends. We feel blessed to have good jobs, two running cars, and three wonderful children.

Chris is enjoying his job. They were very busy this fall with the anthrax threat and the World Series here in town.

Lori is still enjoying her job at the grade school. She is working on the school web page and lessons to assist the teachers. There is a new program at the school called Accelerated Reader and it uses the computers and server so she is the technical person for that.

Kira is the Vice President of the Forensics Team (Drama, Debate & Speech team). She enjoys debating and extemporary speech. She also does some dramatic speaking called Prose. Next fall she will become the President automatically. We're so proud, our daughter last spring recieved an atheletic letter (of course it was in debate) and she is a member of the NFL (National Forensics League) any parent would be proud. She and her friends are also working for Habitat for Humanity. She now has her drivers licence and for Christmas she got a Cell Phone. What happened to Care Bear Videos and playing restraunt with her friends?

Brian is now in Junior high. As a 7th grader the homework is a little more intence and he now has 5 different teachers to make happy but that lunch menu of pizza and fries everyday makes up for it. He loves it.

Devin is playing the saxophone in band and doing well. He is making good grades and enjoying his new pets a 2 Bearded Dragons. He got a pogo stick for christmas and can do 144 hops without stopping

Chris and Lori are now nursery workers at church.
.
March was a tough month at the Poe house. On the 20th of March Devin fell about 20ft out of the tree in our backyard. He did not break anything the doctor said he is the luckiest kid in the world. He missed 2 days of school with a compression bruise to his struenum. He hit the ground so hard it kind of compressed his ribs bruising the place where they meet in front.
On the 23rd Brian went on a scout campout. Saturday they did a bike ride. After about 2 miles Brian was going down a hill and the brakes came unhooked and he didn't make the corner. He ended up with a 3" tear in his mouth below his gums, through his upper lip and across his cheek another 3". He had surgery to repair the damage up at a hick town about an hour out of Mesa. He and mom were both out of school for about a week. He couldn't eat any solids for 7 days. He lost about 10 lbs. but it came back after he could start eating.

Our family enjoyed a trip to Oregon this Oct/Nov to see Grandpa Wicks married in the Portland temple to Darlene Snyder. They are as happy as can be and we are happy for them!
It was so wonderful to see Oregon again and all the family and friends. We had a great trip!
