CHARLES C. DATIN

Charlie is the guy who puts the Cruise Trek Family trips all together and is your host on each event.
Charles first became interested in “Star Trek” as a young boy in the 1960s when his father worked on the team that built the original USS Enterprise models for the classic series.  His father and the other model makers were featured in an issue of the Star Trek Communicator.  These models are now displayed in one of the Air & Space museum’s shops within Smithsonian Institute.
Since 1991, Cruise Trek has taken The Cruise Trek Family of Travelers around the world: to Mexico in ’92; Alaska in ’94, ’98 & ‘02; Bermuda in ’95; the southern Caribbean in ’96; Tahiti in ’97; through the Panama Canal in ’99; the western Mediterranean in 2000; the eastern Mediterranean for 12 days in 2001; The Hawaiian Expedition in 2003, back to the Caribbean in 2004, from Copenhagen in 2005, from Montreal to Boston in 2006 and from Sydney,  Australia to Auckland, New Zealand in 2007. These “Oh Wow” and got to see “before you die” destinations included the magnificence of Bora Bora, Moorea, Barcelona, Rome, Istanbul, Venice, Santorini, St. Petersburg, Berlin and so much more.  No matter where the destination, it has always been a Cruise Trek goal to produce events with care, class and that special Trek family feeling.
Charles was born in Southern California and raised on the beach in Malibu… this is where his love for the ocean stems.  The Beach was and still is a place of peace especially since he comes from a large family of three sisters and a brother that lived in a 2-bedroom 1-bath beach shack. After college he worked as a commercial actor and model both in the United States and abroad. Then after a stint in Europe he came back to the states where he built his first home mostly with his own hands.  Mainly because this was the only way he could afford to live in his home town. Now he has built and/or remodeled several homes as an owner builder.  It actually does take him some time on each project as he does most of the design and physical work himself…which is another very welcomed creative outlet for his energies. Now to keep up with other childhood dreams - he even owns his own John Deere tractor!  Currently, he’s close to submitting plans to the local governing agencies for his next project.  Charles has a very keen business sense, good common sense, and an eye for detail; necessary organizational skills for producing an event like Cruise Trek. Although Charles may seem somewhat microphone-shy—producing Cruise Trek Vacation Adventures is great fun for him, mostly because he gets to meet and work with a lot of fascinating and wonderful people.  As he always says: “Trek people wear their hearts on the outside of their clothes – what else could you ask for?” Well – and he gets to satisfy that long ago ingrained human urge to travel… as he believes “if you don’t travel – you have not truly lived”.  He always looks forward to welcoming the Cruise Trek Family aboard and hopes you will build many more wonderful memories.
