CTA RAPID TRANSITPINK LINE (Douglas)Loop to 54th Ave./Cermak Ave.Radio Frequency 471.0625 Until 2006, the Douglas Line was part of the Blue Line, connecting with the Congress segment west of the Racine stop, and climbing a ramp before turning south. At that curve, the line connected with an elevated segment which from 1958 to 2006 was not used by revenue trains. But that segment had remained in place as the only physical connection between the Blue Line and the rest of the system, connecting with the Green Line at Lake Street. But in 2006, after that segment was upgraded, the Douglas Line was split off from the Blue Line, becoming the new Pink Line, and serving the Loop elevated line via Lake Street. The upgraded segment passes near the United Center, hopefully a station will be constructed there in the future. South of the United Center, the line, while elevated, passes through a newer part of Rush Presbyterian St. Luke's Medical Center, which was constructed over the elevated line. The Douglas segment remains elevated before dropping to street level, before entering the town of Cicero. The Douglas segment was extensively rehabilitated in the late 1990's and early 2000's, and all stations are now modern.
StationsDirection is southward from Loop to 54th Ave./Cermak Ave.
