YELLOW LINE (Skokie)

The CTA's most unique rapid transit line uses the old North Shore interurban trackage on its nonstop run. Much of the line has a rustic character to it. In Skokie the line operates at street level, and used an overhead catenary electrification until 2004. The line also passes through a portion of Evanston and is grade separated, part a ballasted elevated and part in open cut.
