Dear Birthparent,
Thank you for taking the time to read this and to consider adoption as an opportunity. We know this is a stressful time for you, but hope you can see adoption as a positive and loving choice for your child.

Tina is an adopted child, and came to her family as a small infant.I always felt that my biological parents could not have loved me more than to know they couldn't provide a home for me and so found a family who could. My brother is also adopted, and so creating a family through adoption feels like the most natural thing in the world. I believe I would have a special bond and empathy with our child because of sharing this experience.

Bill is an engineer, soft spoken, usually smiling, and as a volunteer EMT ready to run and handle any ambulance calls in our small town. He enjoys computers (we have 6 at home) and always has several projects going around the house-right now he's putting together a weather station!. Since he was a small boy he is known in the family for taking everything apart to see how it works, he now can (usually) get them back together. Tina is a lawyer, quiet, calm, and yet the first to cry at movies, TV shows and sometimes even commercials...Bill works very regular hours and so would have time to spend with our child. Tina moved her office to our home a year ago to be ready to be home full time when our baby arrives.

Our families are spread around the state and around the country, but we stay in touch and see each other frequently. They are all excited about our adoption plans, and are already checking out where to buy tiny toys and how to involve themselves in our baby's everyday life. We both remember very special relationships with our grandmothers, and want the same for our children. We are looking forward to sharing our love for outdoor concerts, fireworks, fairs and gardening with our child.

We are active members of our Congregational Church, Tina is a Trustee and Bill is on the Missions and Long Range Planning Committees. For years Bill ran camp programs for junior high age kids at the CT camp the church supports, and we have chaperoned youth activities in our own parish. We want our child to participate in what the church offers, and to see the church members as a supportive community. Each new baby is carried throughout the congregation at their baptism, our baby is being so anticipated their baptism will be standing room only.

We met on a ski trip in 1992-after one weekend spent with the whole group skiing and snowboarding, Tina came home and called her best friend to tell her she had met the man she was going to marry! Bill wasn't told this until much later on, but Tina knew it from the first evening. We have been happily married since April of 1995 and own our four bedroom home in northwest Connecticut. There is a bedroom waiting for the baby, and five acres of woods and fields ready for swing sets, play houses and maybe a tree house! We spend a lot of time here, Bill doing various projects, Tina coming up with new projects for Bill. Our dog, Scout, is well known to many of the children in town, who call out for her to come play wherever we are.

We want a child very much, and have been planning for a family since before we were married. Our child would be doted on and adored by grandparents, aunts, uncles and friends. We realize you are under tremendous strain right now, and know you want to do what is best for your child. We appreciate your considering us and admire you for pursuing adoption as a loving choice for your child. Please feel confident that if you select us, your child will be surrounded by opportunity, support and love.
We have a completed home study and so are ready to adopt. You can contact us at CTTinaandBill@aol.com, or call our social worker, Nadine Behmke at 203-755-1196 or 1-800-352-0991 (toll free in CT ).
