You can't do any tricks without learning how to ride the skateboard. You have to make sure you have a good skateboard before you can do anything. Try getting your skateboard from Scheels All Sports or Play It Again Sports. they have really good skateboards. Now, I'll tell you how to ride it. Start slow on the sidewalk. If your normal footed, your left leg stays on the board and your right foot pushes off. If your goofy footed, your right leg stays on the board and your left leg pushes off. (I'm goofy footed) Now, just push off with wichever foot you want to. Keep your ballence. Push off 4 times, and put your other foot on the board. Ride for a little while, then push 4 times again, and keep repeating the same process. Soon, try to go faster!

Landing Square

One Really good tip that has really helped me is to land square on your board when landing a trick. In other words, Have your front shoulder line up directly on top of the nose of the board, and your back shoulder exactly above the tail. click here for an illustration.

Tricks

Ollie:This is the first trick you should ever learn. It may be a little hard for beginers but practice makes perfect.
1. Put your left foot in the middle of the board and your right foot on the tail of the board. If it is more confortable for you, you can have the heal of your backfoot overhang on the tail.
2. Now, pop back on the tail with your right foot (slam the tail REALY hard, as hard as you can) and at the same time slide your left foot up the board on top of the front trucks of the board. Also at the same time, lift your back foor into the air Make sure you land square across the board.
Kickflip: You start out just like you would with an ollie, but when you slide your foot up the board, you want your toes to flick the top left corner of the board causing it to flip. Your left foot catches the rotation. Land Square on the Board.
Droping In: Dropping in is when you like, start skating a halfpipe. Put your back wheels in front of the coping on top of the half-pipe. Put your right foot on the tail of the board, and your left foot on top of te front trucks of the board. Now, with your right foot, slam the board down. When you do that, all of your weight has to be pushing forward and it helps if you bend your knees a lot. You probly wont get it on your first try. Practice slaming your board down on the ground first. That helps a lot.
Boardslide: Ride up to the rail, and lean back on the tail and pivot the board right over the rail. Push it onto the rail. Keep your balance. A good way to stay balance for me is while you're grinding, keep you left shoulder alligned with the nose of the board, and your right shoulder alligned with the tail of the board. Of coarse, this tip is for rails about 1 foot high. For really tall, rails, just ollie up on.
50-50 Grind: This is when you grind on a rail and grind with both trucks on the rail. Just ollie up on to the rail and keep your balance.
Pop Shove-It: Ollie, and at the same time, use your backfoot to shove (push hard and back) the board around 180.
When your board has rotated 180 you put your feet down.
Stomp the landing. Careful at first, you might slip out a couple times before you get it right.
Nose Slide: Nose slide is when you grind a rail or ledge etc. with the nose of your board. First, ride up to whatever you want to grind. If the whatever is short enough so you dont have to ollie, ride alongside it boards-length away. Pivot on the tail of the board and turn the board on top of the object, aim the nose for the curb/whatever, and press down on the nose with all your might. Slide all the way through and keep your balance. If the object is high, then ride up to it and ollie, turn your legs, and aim the nose for the curb/whatever, and press down on the nose with all your might. Slide all the way through and keep your balance.
Powerslide Stop new
A poserslide stop is when you are riding, then you slide the back trucks in front of you 90 degrees. This is a cool way to stop your board. Ride as fast as you feel comfortable with. Put both feet planted over the bolts. Center most of your weight on the front trucks and quickly make the back feels slide on the ground. When the board is horizantal, lean back and wait for all the speed you picked up to stop. yay. you landed a powerslide stop.
