REMEMBER - Not any one source can provide you with everything you will need to study witchcraft, and by studying, it doesn't mean that you are a witch. Only you will know in your heart when you truly feel like you are a witch.

Generally there are three ways to start your path on witchcraft. One would be to find a reputable place to take classes. Make sure that the people or person teaching the class has over 5 years experience and is of the exact religion you are trying to learn. ( If the classes cost more then $10 - $20 each night or $50 for an all day workshop then you know they are in it for the money). Two would be to find a mentor that can teach you one on one. Same thing, find someone that you know they know what they are doing. Some practioners will only want to teach you to gain power, or control over you. They may even get you scared of them. The third is the way most people start.. STUDY ON YOUR OWN. Learn by being a solitary practioner by reading books. Here is a good list of beginners books...

Witchcraft is a positive religion that believes in ecology, healing, sexual equality, reincarnation, love, magick and more! It is one of the few religions that opens its arms to all races, genders, sexual preferences, and anyone who is positive. WITCHES DO NOT BELIEVE IN OR WORSHIP THE DEVIL! WE DO NOT EVEN BELIEVE THAT HE EXISTS!!!

The four powers of MAGUS (also called the four temple walls) are TO KNOW, TO WILL ,TO DARE AND TO KEEP SILENT!!!
TO KNOW is the knowledge itself. This is one case that a little knowledge is a dangerous thing! You should try to get your hands on as many books, read them and re-read them before trying anything on your own. Knowledge is power!
TO WILL something to happen is a very powerful part of casting spells. Be careful what you wish for you just might get it, is very true when it is backed up by magic.
TO DARE is to have the courage to pursue it, to make things happen and change for the better. It is the inner strength that everyones posses and very few tap into.
TO KEEP SILENT is the hardest thing for new practioners to deal with. Especially when they see success in their spells, they find it hard to resist Bragging. The more people who know about your magic the more negative thoughtforms can be thrown at your best spells. If it does not concern them then they should know. A good witch already knows not to do any spells on people with out their knowledge and consent.
SABBATS
Samhain - October 31st. Samhain marks the Druids new year. It is more commonly called, by non-Pagans, as Halloween. This is a date that is often recognized as a time where the veil between the worlds of man and the realms of the gods are at their thinnest. Pagans generally use this as a time of reflection, in memory of departed loved ones. This Sabbat also marks the symbolic death of the God, who awaits his re-birth with the coming of Yule.
Yule - Winter Solstice (occurs on or near the 21st of December) Yule is celebrated on the Winter Solstice. It is on this day that the God is symbolically reborn. This is the shortest day of the year, and the days continually get longer, after this day. The sun was often recognized as the symbol of the God, in ancient religions. Most Pagans believe in reincarnation. This cycle of life and death for the God, are symbolic of the belief in life from death.
Imbolc - February 2nd Imbolc is a celebration of fertility and purification. It symbolizes awakening and inspiration. The God is beginning to grow, and his strength (the Sun) is beginning to be noticeable. The broom is used to symbolically sweep out the circle.
Ostara - Spring Equinox (occurs on or near the 21st of March) Ostara is the first day of true spring. The day and night are equal in length. Plants are budding strongly. Some ancient Pagan traditions are still practiced on this day, such as coloring eggs (which are a symbol of fertility).
Beltane - April 30th -Beltane is commonly recognized as May Day, by non-Pagans. It is a celebration of love and desire. Many flowers and plants are often gathered, as decorations. The flowers are symbolic of the Goddess. "May Poles" were often danced around with colorful ribbons, as a symbol of the God.
Midsummer - Summer Solstice (occurs on or near the 21st of June) Midsummer is the time of year at which nature is at it's peak strength. This is a time when many Pagans feel it is best for rituals and spells. Bonfires are often made, to symbolize and honor the God.
Lunasadh (Lammas) - August 1st -Lunasadh is observed during the beginning of harvest. Pagans are thankful for the food with which they have been blessed. The God is beginning to weaken and dim with age, as the days grow shorter.
Mabon - Autumn Equinox (occurs on or near the 21st of September) -Mabon is observed at the end of harvest. The day and night are once again equal in length. The God is quickly losing strength, and is preparing for his end. Summer is over, and Winter is quickly approaching
TOOLS
Athame - The athame is basically a black handled dagger, or short knife. It is often considered to symbolize the God. It is sharpened three ways... each side then the tip. The use of any power or magick to bring harm to another can only result in harm to the practitioner. The athame is commonly used for focusing and directing your personal energies, for use outside yourself. It is often used in the casting of a circle. It is never used for cutting or slicing except a handfasting cake.
Sword - The sword can also be of a single or double edge design, but is almost always double-edged. The symbolism and uses of the sword are the same as for the athame. The sword is used outside as an athame for the casting of the circle.
Wand - The wand is sometimes used instead of the athame or sword. It's symbolism and uses are the same as for the sword and athame. Sometimes a ritual will call for you to rap the cauldron three times with the wand.
Chalice - A cup, usually placed on the altar, which symbolizes the Goddess. The round fullness of the cup is a reminder of fertility and birth. The chalice is often filled with juice or wine. Some worshippers drink from the chalice, in tribute. Others prefer to pour the drink on the ground, as an offering. Some prefer to do a combination of the two practices, sharing what they have with the Goddess.
Cauldron - The cauldron is another symbol of the Goddess. Fires are sometimes lit within the cauldron or incense. It may sometimes be filled with water and/or herbs and plants. Flowers are sometimes placed around the cauldron, to further symbolize the fertility of the Goddess, or as tribute to her.
Bell - Used to announse a ritual is starting. Also used to call the spirits in.
Scourge - A black 5 strand whip, only used symbolically in ritual.
Censer - An incense burner. The incense is sometimes used to help in the purification process of the circle.
Bowls - On an altar, it is common to find two bowls. Usually, one is filled with water, while the other is filled with salt. The salt and water are used together, or sometimes separately, for purification purposes. They may be used to help purify the circle, or they can be used for purification of the tools.
Candles - Two candles are sometimes placed on the altar, to represent the God and Goddess. Often, four candles are also placed near the edge of the circle, one at each of the cardinal directions (North, East, South, and West).
CANDLE COLOR MEANINGS
White: Truth, cleansing, protection, purification, peace
Red: Strong love, strength, health, passion, energy, lust
Orange : For strong love and the courage to pursue it.
Yellow: Intellect, communication, attraction, new beginnings
Green : Money, wealth, prosperity, healing, growth
Light Blue: Healing, patience, happiness
Dark Blue: Claming, happiness, peace
Pink: True love, friendships, success
Purple: Universal power, wishes, spirituality, meditation
Black : Protection against negativity, dispelling evil
Brown : Courage, house blessing, grounding
The Witches' Creed
Hear Now the words of thee witches,
The secrets we hid into the night,
When magic was our destiny's pathway,

Four times in the year the Great Sabbat
Returns, and the witches are seen
At Lammas and Candlemas dancing,

The four Lesser Sabbats are summoned,
And Witches gather in feast.
Thirteen silver moons in a year are,
Thirteen is the coven's array.
Thirteen times at Esbat make merry,
For each golden year and a day.
The power that was passed down the age,
Each time between woman and man,
Each century unto the other,
Ere time and the ages began.
When drawn is the magical circle,
By sword or athame of power,
Its compass between two worlds lies,
In land of the shades for that hour.
This world has no right then to know it,
And world of beyond will tell naught.
The oldest of Gods are invoked there,
The Great Work of magic is wrought.
For the two are mystical pillars,
That stand at the gate of the shrine,
And two are the powers of nature,
The forms and the forces divine.
