"Don't just wear it; SPORT IT!"
That's the slogan of family member Nathan Palmer who has just launched his urban clothing brain child "nathangear"
nathangear is owned and operated by Nathan Palmer. Nathan was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He later moved to Durham, North Carolina where he completed his formal education before enlisting in the U.S. Navy. The Navy presented him with an opportunity to see many beautiful countries and to serve his country for ten years. For as long as Nathan can remember he has had a love for the arts, music, entertainment and fashion. As a young man still in high school he was very active in school musicals and singing in the church choir. While he was in the Navy, he was very instrumental in developing a singing group called Contrast. This group performed with various top artists in the R&B field, while also securing a record contract. As his stay in the Navy was coming to an end and the beginning of building a family became priority, Nathan decided to go back to school at Old Dominion University and get more education on his other love, fashion design and marketing. Earlier in his career he created his design for Tee-shirts, hats, and other clothing. His passion for fashion design led him to pursue and present to the world nathangear, where the motto is “Don’t just wear it…Sport It!” nathangear is coming so be ready! When asked what's on the horizon for nathangear, Nathan Palmer says, "Right now we are doing the promotional TeeShirts as seen on the site. We fully plan to get into casual and sport wear for men, women, and children. It is our goal to link the "generational gap" using style & grace & while putting a smile on your face!"

African Ancestry DNA Testing
I have recently submitted DNA for testing by the African Ancestry company. African Ancestry is a company with the worlds largest database of African DNA. The DNA testing offered by this company is very often able to link an individuals DNA to a specific African region and tribe. This is the same company that did the DNA testing for Oprah Winfrey on the PBS special African American Lives. This DNA test will be relevant for all family members who are direct descendants of any one of the following:
George Hamlin (1862), Isaac Hamlin (1873), Annie Hamlin Amica (1880), Liza Hamlin(1862), John Hamlin (1878), William Hamlin (1875).
I look forward to sharing the results of this test with the family when they become available. It's an incredible way to reconnect with the part of our story that began before our captivity.
