My name is Deirdra.  I was born in Crown Heights Brooklyn.  To be exact, 1254 Union St. between Nostrand Ave. & N.Y. Ave.  I went to P.S. 161, Leffert's J.H.S and graduated Wingate H.S. in Jan. 65.  I am one of the few baby boomers that are still living in Brooklyn.  Don't think I will ever leave.  Well.......I can't say never, maybe when my husband Peter and I retire.  I've been married 37 years and have a daughter Denise 35 and a son David 32.  No more babies!!

I have a dog, a cat, and a Blue and Gold Macaw.  I guess this is what you call the empty nest syndrome.  When your kids don't need you anymore, so what do you do, you go out and get animals.  As you can see I'm an animal lover.  My parrot is the best thing in this house.  Well........besides my husband.  When I come home from work and if no one's home, at least my parrot will greet me. "Hi Ma".  By the way his name is Frank.  If I'm feeling down or depressed or just sitting on the couch, Frank cheers me right up.  He'll say, "Whatsa matta, huh, huh?" (Brooklyn accent and all).  All of a sudden I find myself talking to Frank telling him why I'm feeling down.  He's a real trip!

Well,  enough about Frank.  I went back to work 14 years ago as a medical sec'y for one of the best Ophthalmologists in Brooklyn and am loving it.  Why am I loving it?  Don't have to worry about little kids anymore.  I'm free at last.  :o)  Until the grandchildren come into my life that is.

My hobbies are Atlantic City and playing scrabble.

WELL, Peter and I have left the building.  No,we haven't retired.  I REALLY didn't lie when I said we would never leave Brooklyn.  Just got an offer on my house that we couldn't refuse. :o)  We have left Brooklyn and moved to Staten Island to be with all my family.  No matter where I live I will always be a Brooklynite.  This is where all my good memories stem from.  I still work here so I have the best of both worlds.
And herrrrrrres FRANK!
I've met some wonderful people from AOL.  We've e-mailed each other for about a year. The very first time we saw each other we actually felt like we knew each other for years.  All of us are now the best of friends.  I don't know what I would do without them.  Here they are.
This was the very first time we met at Lundy's.  Eileen (LdyOStyle), Betty, me, Bruce (Brucebrod, Debbie and Stacey.
This is me (D4Bklyn), Debbie (Momsymoo), Betty (Doowop1952) and my sister Stacey (Rodmaniac).

This is my very good friend Gail (SEESRED).  She lives in Arizona.  Gail, Debbie and I went to Wingate H.S. together.  We did not know each other back then until we met here on AOL. All of us went to Arizona for 4 days to meet Gail.  What a great time we had.  Thanks Gail for your wonderful hospitality.
