Dan Fiorella in a nutshell
...Previously on "Dan Fiorella";

I am/was/been...

...born and raised in Staten Island, NY (Land of the Midnight Dump).

...contributing author to the Sherlock Holmes anthology, "Sherlock Homes dans Tous Ses  Etats"  (it's French!).

...joke writer for the funsters over at newsbusters.org.  Hey, work's work.

...a contributor to MPR's A Prairie Home Companion radio show starring Garrison Keillor.

...with other radio bits being used on American Comedy Network and All Star Radio, radio syndicators.

...the writer & Roving Editor at CRACKED magazine.

...published in MAD magazine.

...regular columnist for Weekly World News comedy tabloid.

...wrote for that madcap Russian, Yakov Smirnoff and his Branson, MO show.

...a staff writer on Where's the Party? This was a late-night comedy-variety show/pilot for ABC at a time ABC was looking to get out of late-night comedy-variety.

...staffed on the syndicated animation series, The Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers; writing and co-writing six episodes of the show.
Roy Rogers promoted a Kid's Meal Combo featuring my episode, "Space Whales." I have several.
Years later I got to meet Jerry Orbach (voice of Cmmdr Fox) at a Writers Guild award dinner and got him to autograph my Roy Rodgers/Galaxy Ranger place mat.  I have since discovered there's a serious Galaxy Ranger cult out there on the internet.  I mean cult in a nice way, not a Jim Jones/poison Kool-aid way.

I've written screenplays for Warners Bros., JLR Film Productions,  and Pterodactyl Productions.

I served as co-chair of the WGAE's Activities committee and got to hand out the awards to the winners every year.

I was a contributing gag writer to the syndicated series, Start of Something Big with Steve Allen.  It was based on the "Origins" books by Charles Panati, a friend who got me the gig.  The late former late night host had us rookies bounced in order to bring in his own writer. Show got cancelled anyway.  Many years later, at a guild award dinner, I got Allen to autograph the TV Guide page advertising the show.  Yes, I am stalking former co-workers.  Yakov beware!

Then there's the freelance pieces I've done for NY Daily News, NY Post, the S.I. Advance (excluding several irate letters to the editor).  Not to mention online sites like ModernHumorist.com  or The Big Jewel (too late, I did!)

As writer-member of Style Without Substance, a NYC-based comedy troupe, I supplied much sketch material.  My skits were featured on several appearances of The Joe Franklin Show.  Locally, there was a Staten Island based group, Generation Sketch which I worked with.  I've even dabbled in stand-up, performing around the city, and once was a runner-up in a "funniest Staten Islander" contest.

For outstanding programing written and produced for Staten Island Cable I received NOVA nominations and awards for my two programs,
Style Without Substance: Publicly Accessible and
Style Without Substance: Killer Comedians.

I also contributed to the First Amendment Comedy Troupe, a different NYC-based comedy/improv group.  I worked on the parts that weren't improv-ed.

I'm a New York University graduate, with a BFA in Cinema Studies and a minor in writing.  At NYU, I was a co-founding editor of The Plague humor magazine, the only intentionally funny publication on campus.  It's now celebrating its 25th anniversary and we await its new website.

I'm presently serving 9-5 at a brokerage house in NYC.
Gratuities accepted.
TIA
