Liv'in and Luv'in Life in Tennessee!!!
Liv'in  and Luv'in Life in Tennessee!!!

Welcome to my Homepage! My name is Paul.

I am originally from Point Pleasant, West Virginia, and am 32 years of age. After having spent eight years working within public safety in Florida, I decided that it was time to begin a 'new life' and moved to Tennessee July 4th, 1997. It was the greatest decision that I could have made; one that has and will continue to affect me in positive ways for the remainder of my life. When I made this decision I was told that I was 'crazy' and was even asked to counsel with a sheriff's office psychiatrist. The reason many close friends of mine made those comments were due to the fact that I was resigning from a great job and leaving my friends and family behind, knowing only that I was moving to the Nashville area. I say the 'Nashville area' with humor, because those  friends of mine knew that when I drove into town on July 4th I would have no job, knew nobody here and had no idea where I was going to live! My greatest disappointment though was that I didn't get to see Nashville's display of fireworks that night, because everything I owned was wrapped up in a tarp in the back of my pick-up truck.

Our Wedding

Upon arriving here, I went camping and began to look for a job and a place
to live. I learned that it's difficult to get a good job driving around with all your personal
belongings in the back of a pick-up truck and that it's tough to find a place to rent when you are unemployed. Catch 22, uh? Nevertheless, I did get a job and soon had a place to rest my head. To supplement my low paying job, I worked as a part-time funeral home assistant. I lived in an apartment complex infested with drug users and gang members, but the alternative was the woods. Before too long, though, I was employed full-time and was soon moving to a more peaceful neighborhood. Beginning a new life was overwhelming and emotional at times, but it was taking shape. I sometimes felt like giving up but I brushed off the dust and kept going; sometimes for no other reason than my dog, Rocky.

I spent a lot of time with Rocky. He went nearly everywhere I went, including downtown Nashville one night. It was a saturday night and I just wanted to drive through and see what was going on. The streets were crowded and If you knew Rocky, you knew that he loved to bark aggressively at people alongside the roadway. He had fun that night with some drunk people and a bicycle cop. That cop sure had a poor attitude!

During the course of my workday I traveled around the Nashville area, and therefore learned more about Nashville and its residents. I heard a great deal about Dickson, a small town west of Nashville, from several co-workers. I drove there one day during my lunch hour and started searching for a place to live. Dickson is now my hometown and I love it here.

Since moving here I have found all the missing pieces of my life and sanity. OK, maybe not all of my sanity, but I like being crazy!

Since moving here I met Dana, now my wife, and I am working once again within the public safety profession.

Dana and I began dating Memorial Day weekend, 1999, and became best friends almost immediately. Neither of us take many things seriously, so we are always having fun. If you wear your feelings on your shoulders, we're sorry if we hurt them!

Dana and I were married June 9, 2001.
