Plymouth Critter Loco by Don Kralik
Don kitbashed this rugged loco using a Model Power HO Plymouth, our KD-07 Side-door Cab kit and a homebuilt fuel tank. Don produces a great line of On30 items including steam domes and pilot kits -- click either photo to visit his Xeodon web site.

Plymouth Critter by Allen Littlefield
Allen also started with a Model Power HO Plymouth and came up with his own great-looking loco. He cut open the hood to reveal a Life-Like HO "Power Generator" (aka Caterpillar engine) inside ... and modified one of our KD-02 cabs to fit the custom loco.
Allen and Don both included sand domes on their critter bashes -- reminiscent of the Plymouth switcher used on the narrow gauge White Pass & Yukon.

"Old & New" by Paul Templar
Paul's KD-01 Center Cab runs alongside the "old faithful" 301 Dunkirk in this great shot ... and there's a 507 Shorty Caboose in the background. Paul used a variety of details to dress up his locos -- we especially like those covered stacks on the center cab!

Critter Bash by Steve Wolfhope
Steve used our KD-06 kit to bash a Bachmann 70-ton HO diesel into this handsome On30 critter -- neatly painted in his railroad's burgundy and black paint scheme with white safety appliances.

"Crusty Critter" by Sam Barbose (New photos -- May 2005)
Sam's at it again with some great bashing and great weathering. "Crusty" is built over a Model Power HO Plymouth mechanism with the side frames carved out to create an open frame work ... and the engine compartment opened up to reveal a dummy engine inside. Sam rearranged BVM KD-02 cab parts to build the distinctive vestibule style cab. The neat-o weathering job was achieved by pre-painting the loco with a black/rust undercoat, then dabbling some rubber cement on prior to spraying the yellow paint ... then the rubber cement was peeled off to reveal the "grunge" below the flaking, peeling paint. Nice job!

Yet another Crusty Critter by Les Davis (New photos -- May 2005)
Another imaginative builder with great weathering techniques ... Les extended a BVM KD-07 cab (see the styrene strip added along front of side on close-up) to his scratch-bashed critter. This one is also built on a Model Power mechanism with the motor in the cab, so there's room to open the engine compartment for detailing. Les also used the rubber-cement technique, with a different look to the undercoat -- showing more bare metal.
