SUPERFORMANCE GT40
Finally, a year after the rolling chassis arrived in the US, and almost three years after I ordered the car, my Superformance GT40 is complete and running. I flew out to North Carolina on 12/7/07 to inspect the finished car and take a test drive before the car is shipped back to Illinois. Here are some pictures I snapped at Olthoff racing just after my test drive.

As you can see, I elected to go without all the GT40 racing stripes and other graphic hoo-hah. It will be used as a road car, and I think it's a timeless shape that stands on its own. The Titanium metallic paint was chosen to accentuate all the voluptuous curves and surfaces.

The engine is a 302 Dart block Ford punched out to 353 Cu In, and was custom built by Roush Racing. It has independent runner 8-stack fuel injection running Roush proprietary ECU software. 485HP, 480 LbFt torque.

The tires are big section Avons on BRM alloy wheels.
I did not know how I would like the cable shift linkage, but Dennis has re-engineered the system, and it works very well.

The license plate will clip on a bracket that snaps on behind the gearbox actuator you see hanging beneath the tail.

The correct "bundle of snakes" header system produces the distinctive GT40 exhaust note.
