My name is Valerie and we live near Boston, Ma. I have been happily married for 36 years and have shared the love of three children . My oldest son is married and now has a son and daughter of his own..they are the joy in my life ! My youngest child, a daughter, is 20. My middle son, Gregg, died when he was 15. I would say that we are typical of the average American family but from my experience with online friends in various support groups I am no longer sure we actually do model the typical family. We are a happy, fun loving, hard working family with the usual struggles to get out of life what we need and some of what we want. Perhaps in THAT sense we are what the American family idealy should be.I have worked very hard, as has my husband , to secure a nuturing and loving environment for my children. I have not always been able to give my children everything they want..but certainly have strived to give them everything they need. I have a background in Pediatric nursing but have been retired for a number of years now. I currently work with my husband in our own business. The above picture is of my husband and myself, taken at my sons wedding, one of the happiest days of my life.

Our Favorite Family Activities

I am the quiet one in the family...my interests lie in quiet endeavors...I love to read, do needlepoint, go to the movies, and play RPG games on my Sony Playstation, oh and TRAVEL ! I NEED nature, I can get lost in a summer breeze, a beautiful English garden, a long walk in the woods, an evening on the ocean. My husbands interests are varied and many. He is a hunter, fisherman, model airplane builder and pilot!....he seems to have some activity for EVERY season of the year. He is one of the most beloved men I have ever met. He is as attentive and loving towards me as the day I married him, all those long years ago. My children model their interests very much after their parents...son and father do almost everything together, mother and daugther likewise.

the Friends we Love

My best friend lives in Florida and I try to make a yearly visit to spend cherished time with her. I have an active online group of friends that I meet with at least once a year. . we meet for about a week, bonded together by our children..the ones that live in our hearts. We are bereaved parents that have formed a group out of understanding and empathy for one another.
