Troy was a remarkable dog, and his death leaves a void in our lives that can never be filled by any other dog. He was a fantastic showdog, but more importantly, he was one of the most wonderful Danes we've had the pleasure of sharing our lives with.
While 7 years is considered within the "normal" lifespan of a Dane, we were not prepared for his sudden and unexpected death.
A report is being prepared on the cause of Troy's death and will be forwarded to people who bred to him and have puppies sired by him. While current rumor has it he died of DCM, that may not be the case. His files are currently being reviewed by a board certified cardiologist and Dr. Muers.
A memorial for Troy is being prepared for Dane World. Monies over the cost of the ad will be donated to the GDC A Health and Welfare fund. If you would like to contribute, please contact Edie at Danelind@msn.com.

SHOW CAREER
Troy's potential as a top-winning show dog became evident at his first set of dog shows, where he went Winners Dog from the 6-9 Puppy Class. Quickly racking up points, he soon completed both his American and Canadian Championship at 11 months of age. Along the way he had several Breed wins, including a Specialty win from the 9-12 Puppy Class over a large number of top-winning Specials at the Great Dane Club of Northern California Specialty.
At 16 months of age, he began his Specials career, presented by his co-owner, Jane Chopson. He ended 1999 as the #6 Great Dane. Troy was then specialed for one more year and ended 2000 as #5. Troy's highlights include a Best in Show at the Carson City Kennel Club in Oct. 2000. One week later, he was the winner of the Great Dane Club of America's Top Tweny. Troy is now retired and enjoying life as "the top dog" at Daynakin Great Danes.
