Work is progressing (albeit slowly) on Inhabited. In the meantime, I have recently completed a new short story entitled "The Tragedy Collector," which has been submitted for possible publication in an upcoming anthology book entitled Raw Meat.
Hopefully, by now you have read the important message linked to at the homepage of this site. This was an important personal decision that I have made that I am very excited about. Needless to say, it's all for a great cause.
Congrats to fellow author Tena Green for another outstanding Midwest Book Fest (held in Ohio on 9/17/05)! A very nice turnout and it was a blast talking to some very enthusiastic readers and fellow authors.
This past weekend, I attended the Flashback Weekend drive-in event held in Aurora, IL which featured all-night screenings of several horror classics, including The Beyond and Evil Dead II. There, I had the great pleasure of meeting two very kind gentlemen- Tom Sullivan (artist and FX expert from Evil Dead) and Ari Lehmen (who portrayed Jason Voorhees in the original Friday the 13th). Ari now has a band called First Jason that really rocked the house at the event. Be sure to check out the Links page here at the site that now  features links to Tom's and Ari's websites.
And while you're exploring here at the site, be sure to check out the Contests page, where we have a couple of very cool items up for grabs! After that, take a peek at my new "MySpace page", which is an exciting interactive forum open to all of my friends/readers! Special thanks to my son Eric for his help in setting all of that up!
Lastly, within the next month or so, a new forum specifically tailored towards midwest-based authors of dark fiction and poetry will be opened. Known simply as MADSHOW (Midwest Authors of Dark, Suspense, Horror, and Otherworldly Writings), the purpose of this forum will be to assist both established and up-and-coming authors in publicizing themselves and their work, along with offering helpful writing and marketing tips. I am proud to be an administrator of this worthwhile venture, and I truly believe that good things will be borne from it. Once active, MADSHOW can be reached through a link on the homepage here at the DarkeProse site.
That's it for now. Thanks for visiting and my very best to all of you!

Also, be sure to check out the store here at the DarkeProse website for a couple of cool new items: a mini poster and Final Death zombie artwork postcards! Send them to your friends, or, perhaps more importantly, your enemies!
And speaking of zombies, LAND OF THE DEAD opens today in theaters across America. Support George A. Romero!

Work has begun on my next novel, entitled Inhabited, which tells the story of a small, coastal Florida town overtaken by an evil borne from the ocean depths. Expect an early 2006 release for Inhabited and stay tuned to this website for progress reports!

My new short story, "Hunting Rabid," has been accepted for publication in Wicked Karnival magazine. It will appear in issue #4, which will be available in June. Both print and online versions will be available. For more info, go to www.wickedkarnival.com.

Over the past few weeks I have been working on a couple of new short stories, "Hunting Rabid" and "Four Small Walls," which will be submitted for possible publication in a couple of select online and print outlets. Stay tuned for details. I also plan to begin work on my next novel, Inhabited, sometime in April.
Another major radio appearance has (tentatively) been lined up for late April. This will be an in-depth discussion about Final Death and some of the controversy regarding the book's unusual mix of extreme zombie violence and Christian themes. Check the Appearances page for updates. As an FYI, FD now has an ISBN number (1-4116-2724-5) which should allow bookstores to special order copies.
Best wishes to all for a happy and blessed Easter!

Well, it was a long wait since the last update back in December, but I did promise that a big one was coming and it has finally arrived.
Final Death is now complete and available through Lulu Press, as is the re-issue of Total Darkness and the poetry collection Sanctum of the Mind. Take your time and explore the updates at the site, including the new Bio & Library page. Hopefully, you'll find it was worth the wait!
To celebrate the release of Final Death, be sure to check the Appearances page in the coming months for book signings and other promotional events.
