Dave Pawson: Poetry: As a Limb

Poetry of Dave Pawson

As a Limb

As a limb falls from a tree,
Thus would I take leave of thee;
Not like a woodsman with his blade,
Whose hews would leave us both dismayed;
Nor lightning strike, nor howling gale,
To burn us both, or make us quail;
But gently, softly, without pain,
Such that thou may'st love again.
