We are a group of Living Historians based out of Historic Ft. Snelling's History Center in Mpls, Minnesota near the St. Paul, Mpls International Airport and Ft. Snelling Military Reservation. Our group does not support, practice or condone the radical political beliefs associated with Communisim which were practiced in the Soviet Union. Or any other Political Idealolgy past or current. We try to remain "A Political" so we can better understand all viewpoints. We use Soviet and other Political Posters, Slogans and Language of the period for "Living History" reasons only. Our main goal is to keep & bring alive the history & sacrafices & acomplishments of the Soviet people and the RKKA/PKKA (the Soviet/Red Army) during the Great Patriotic War (WW II) -- a feat of Arms unmacthed since the end of that war. The citizens and soldiers of the Soviet Union suffered the highest casualties and loss of any Nation involved in WW II. They paid the biggest price in blood and material OF ALL THE ALLIED NATIONS to defeat the Nazi German Military during World War Two, or as it was calld by them (the Soviets) "The Great Patriotic War". And, our purpose is to keep those sacrafices alive & remembered by a world which is quick to forget, ignore, rewrite or revise it's own history to fit "Political Correctness" or current Political Ideals.
Our Group keeps alive the sacrafices of the Soviet Army and people through collecting history & memorabila of the period and sharing it with others through PUBLIC Living History Encampments, Displays and Battle Reenactments. Our members will be encouraged to research the Soviet Union, it's Military and it's Military traditions in WW II to better understand the history and sacrafices associated with it. We will also encourage our members to reach out to and assosiate with Red Army Veterans Groups. They will also be required to acquire the correct (within this unit's standards -- see uniform requirments) Uniform(s) Equipment and Weapon(s) of a Soldier of the Soviet/Red Army in WW II and keep them in good repair. They will also need to learn basic Soviet Military Commands (in Russian) and Soviet/Red Army Tactics of the period. We require that our members to be in good standing within today's society and not be convicted felons or associated with Criminal activity -- this is required because of our association with Historic Military Weapons, Vehicles & Equipment in our displays, encampments and reenactments.
No prior Military Service or ability to speak Russian is required to join our group (but it is helpful) you will need to have a love, an interest or Desrire to learn more about WW II and Military history from the Soviet/Red Army side. Minimal Age to for a Male or Female to join our group is 16 years -- there is no Maximum age.
