Kim Links

Here, in no particular order of importance, are a few internet sites you may want to visit...

Bette Davis Eyes: A Tribute to Kim Carnes is a fan page, created by Eugene Contini. He's done a nice job, and has included the lyrics to most of the songs Kim has written.

Guilherme M. Corrêa's Kim Carnes Fan Club website is a thorough, multi-page site, written in Portuguese, but with enough photos to make even those who don't speak the language want to drop by for a visit. Brazilian fans certainly will want to join the official fan club there. For information, write to the club's president, Giovana Bonilha, by clicking here.

Another page devoted to Kim, this one from Germany, is by Jan Gebauer and is part of his Divas Homepage site.

An interesting site for "Bette Davis Eyes" fans will be the Jackie DeShannon Appreciation Society. As with Kim's career, few people realize the full extent of Jackie's body of work, and this site is a great place to learn more about Kim's "C'mon Lets Live a Little" co-star.

The Bluebird Cafe is a Nashville nightclub featuring live music, including some rare -- and most of them unannounced -- performances by Kim Carnes. Other regulars at the Bluebird include Beth Neilsen Chapman and a host of Country Music up-and-comers. You'll need to check the schedule frequently, then plan your trip to Music City.

Thoughtscape Sounds is an excellent source for compact discs -- domestic and imported -- by artists specializing in adult oriented rock. The "Bette Davis Eyes" compilation is available here, and when Kim's original albums are finally reissued on disc in the US, rest assured they will be available here.

Los Angeles-based Vinyl Vendors has dozens of Kim Carnes items, including rare 7" and 12" singles, available from its fully searchable online database.

"Morning Coffee With Kim Carnes" by Mike Settle (a founding member of the First Edition and one of Kim's cohorts on the early "Sugar Bears" project) is an excellent article from American Songwriter Magazine. Although it's now a tad over two years old, it remains the last significant interview with Kim to be published in a national magazine. Mike, we await the sequel!

Bill Cuomo, one of Kim's best-known and most respected musician-arranger-producers, is currently working on new projects with Beeb Birtles, formerly of the Little River Band. Their new record label is Sonic Sorbet, and their aim, Bill says, is to bring high quality music to the "baby boomer" audience that many record labels are currently ignoring.

If you are interested in purchasing some of Kim's European and Japanese releases via the internet, a good place to start is the Netherlands-based CD Teleshop. You will not find anything that's out of print, such as "Checkin' Out the Ghosts," but you will find the Australian greatest hits compilation and several others. Note that all prices here are listed in Dutch guilders. (If you need a currency converter, visit www.oanda.com.)

Reid Furniss has set up a Kim Carnes discussion list where you can talk to your heart's content about all things related to Kim and her career. Click here to request subscription information.

Click on the icon at left to visit the Ultimate Band List, an excellent resource for all musician-related sites, including most of Kim's collaborators mentioned in this site.
