Colonel Stirling was born 18 Sept 1922 in Ridley Park, Pa. He graduated from Randolph Macon Military Academy in Front Royal, Va. in 1940. He attended Lehigh University for one semester and worked the first year of WWII in the Sun Shipyard in Philadelphia. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps on 7 December 1942 and completed boot camp at Parris Island South Carolina. Upon graduation he was promoted to PFC and assigned as an drill instructor. In the spring of 1943 he was assigned to MCB Quantico, Va. and attended Officer Candidate School. After completing the course he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in June 1943. After graduation from the Reserve Officers Course he was assigned to Marine Barracks, Bermuda as a Light Anti aircraft Artillery Officer. In 1944 he was transferred to the 5th Marine Division which was forming up at Camp Pendleton, Ca. He was attached the 3rd Battalion 28th Marine Regiment as an infantry officer. On 19 February 1945 he landed on Iwo Jima as a platoon commander with I Company 3/28. When the island was secured in late March 1945 he was the Commanding Officer of India Company. He received a Letter of Commendation (Navy Commendation Medal) for his actions during the battle. The 5th Marine Division took part in the occupation of Japan after the end of the war in August 1945. The 28th Marines were assigned to the Sasebo area of the southernmost Home Island of Kyushu. Lt. Stirling returned to the United States in December 1945 and was assigned to Inspector-Instructor duty in New Orleans, La. During this tour he was promoted to the grade of Captain. In August 1949 Captain Stirling was transferred to Marine Barracks, 15th Naval District, Panama Canal Zone as a Guard Platoon Commander. In Sept 1952 Capt Stirling was reassigned to the 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, Camp Lejeune N.C. In Sept 1954 Major Stirling was transferred to the 7th Marine Regiment in Japan as the Operations Officer of the 3rd Battalion. During this tour the regiment served in Korea. In 1956 Major Stirling was posted to duty in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii as a member of the Intelligence (J-2) staff of the Commander-in-Chief, Pacific In July of 1958 Major Stirling was assigned to the U.S. Naval Ammunition Depot, Concord, Ca. as the Executive Officer of the Marine Barracks. In 1960 he was promoted to the rank of LtCol. and assumed command of the Marine Barracks. In 1961 he was assigned to the staff of the U.S. Naval Postgraduate School as an instructor in Amphibious Warfare. During this tour he received a Bachelor Degree in International Relations. Upon the completion of this tour he was assigned to the HQ of the 3rd Marine Division as an Assistant Operations Officer. In early 1965 he was posted to the 9th Marine Expeditionary Brigade and landed with the first Marine combat troops to enter the Republic of Vietnam. In Sept 1965 LtCol Stirling returned to the United States and was assigned to the Marine Corps Development and Education Command at Quantico, Va. as the Operations Officer of the Basic School. In 1966 he was promoted to the rank of Colonel and became the Executive Officer of the School. In June 1968 Col Stirling was reassigned to Guam in the Mariana Islands as the Commanding Officer of Marine Barracks, Guam. Upon the completion of that tour he was assigned to the HQ of the 3rd Marine Amphibious Force for duty in conjunction with Southeast Asia Treaty Organization military exercises in the Philippines. After the exercises were completed he was assigned to duty as the Commanding Officer of the Range Company Camp Fuji, Japan. In June 1971 Col Stirling returned to the United States and reported for duty at the Division of Reserve at Headquarters Marine Corps Washington D.C. In August 1972 Col Stirling retired from active duty after 29 1/2 years of service and assumed the post of Senior Marine Instructor at Daniel Boone High School in Washington County, Tennessee. He retired from this post in 1983 and in 1985 relocated to Sussex County Delaware. He passed away on 12 February 1996 and was buried with full military honors in the churchyard of St. George's Chapel Angola, Delaware. He was survived by his wife, Ollie M. Stirling and four children and five grandchildren.
LIEUTENANT COLONEL C. A. "BO" AUSTIN
LtCol. Austin graduated from Science Hill HS in 1953 and graduated from Gerorge Washington University in 1957 LtCol Austin lettered four years in both football and baseball and was selected the most valuable player in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas. He was drafted by the Washington Redskins (13th) and seperated his shoulder during a game against the San Francisco 49'ers. After rehabilitation, he joined the Marine Corps where he remained until his retirement in 1978. LtCol Austin took over as the Senior Marine Instructor at Daniel Boone in 1978 and retired in 1997. LtCol. Austin currently resides in Johhnson City, Tennessee.
MASTER GUNNERY SERGEANT WILLIAM R. KIND
Master Gunnery Sergeant William "Rick" Kind became the Marine Instructor at Daniel Boone in 1972 and remained there until his retirement in 1995. MGySgt Kind resides in Johnson City, Tennessee. We are currrently collecting his military information.

Gunnery Sergeant Maurice Faith became the Marine Instructor at Daniel Boone in 1972 and remained there until his retirement in 1995. GySgt. Faith has since passed away. We are currently looking for anyone with information concerning GySgt. Faith's military career.
GUNNERY SERGEANT WALLACE GLOVER
Gunnery Sergeant Wallace Glover became the Marine Instructor at Daniel Boone in 1978 and remained there until his death in 1997. We are currrently collecting his military information.
