Trellised Blossom 12" Square

SIZE: 12"

MATERIALS: worsted weight yarn in 3 colors; hook size K

Sts used: ch, sc, hdc, dc, trc

Note: BLO = Back Loop Only

FLO = Front Loop Only

With color A, ch 5, join to form a ring.

1. Ch 1, work 12 sc in ring. Join in BLO of first sc.

2. Working in BLO, ch 3, work 1 dc in same st as joining. Work 2 dc in each st around. Join in BLO of 3rd ch of beginning ch-3.

3. Working in BLO, ch 3, 2 dc in next st, * 1 dc in next st, 2 dc in next st. Rep from * around. Join with sl st in FLO of 3rd ch of beginning ch-3.

4. Working in FLO, ch 4, work 2 trc in same st as joining. Work 3 trc in FLO of each st around. Join with sl st in 4th ch of beginning ch-4. End off.

5. Join color A in any free lp of Rnd 2. Rep Rnd 4.

6. Join yarn in any free lp of Rnd 1. Ch 4, work 4 trc in same st, work 5 trc in each remaining free lp. Join with sl st to 4th ch of beginning ch-4. End off and weave in all ends.

7. Join color B in any free lp behind flower on Rnd 3. Ch 2, *work 1 dc in next lp, 5 dc in next lp, 1 dc in next lp, 1 hdc in next 6 lps. Rep from * around, ending last rep with 1 hdc in next 5 lps. Join in 2nd ch of beginning ch-2.

8. Ch 3, work 1 dc in next 3 sts, 5 dc in next st, * 1 dc in next 12 sts, 5 dc in next st. Rep from * 2 more times, work 1 dc in next 8 sts. Join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch-3. End off color B. Weave in ends.

NOTE:

Beg Double V-st: (Ch 4, [dc, ch 1] twice, dc) all in same corner sp.

Double V-st: (Dc [ch 1, dc] 3 times) in corner sp.

Beg V-st: Ch 4, dc in same sp.

V-st: (Dc, ch 1, dc) in sp or st indicated.

Dc dec: yo, insert hook in sp indicated, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull thru 2 lps on hook, yo, insert hook in next sp, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull thru 2 lps on hook, yo, pull thru 3 lps on hook.

9. Join color C in center dc of any corner, work Beg Double V-st, * (sk 2 sts, V-st in next st) twice, ch 1, sk 2 sts, work Dc dec over next 2 st, ch 1, (sk 2 sts, work V-st) twice, sk 2 sts, ** work Double V-st in next st. Rep from * around, ending last rep at **. Join in 3rd ch of beg ch-4.

10. Sl st into ch-1 sp, work Beg V-st, work * Double V-st in corner ch-1 sp, (V-st in next ch-1 sp) 3 times, V-st in top of Dc dec, (V-st in next ch-1 sp) 3 times. Rep from * around, ending last rep with (V-st in next ch-1 sp) 2 times. Join in 3rd st of beginning ch-4.

11. Sl st into ch-1 sp, work Beg V-st, V-st in next ch-1 sp, * Double V-st in corner ch-1 sp, (V-st in ch-1 sp of V-st below) 9 times. Rep from * around, ending with (V-st in ch-1 sp of V-st below) 7 times. Join in 3rd ch of beginning ch-4.

12. Ch 2, hdc in each st and each ch-1 sp around, working 3 hdc in corner ch-1 sps. (140 hdc: 32 hdc between corner groups)
