Beamed throughout with magnificent timbers & connected by large open passageways, the hallway, kitchen, living room & dining area offer both a sophisticated fluidity of space &, thanks to the large windows & glass double doors that lead out onto the gardens and pergola, a shaded dining area, a sense of light & warmth.
The large sitting room, to the far right of the ground floor & opening directly onto the gardens beyond, features splendid tall ceilings & comfortable, elegant furniture around a marble-fronted fireplace. Between the two glass, double-doors a large antique armoire houses a flat-screen satellite television, video-recorder, DVD player & CD player. To one side of this room is a dining area with a handsome antique wooden table & sideboard. This sitting room, dining area and the kitchen have air conditioning units.
The fully equipped kitchen, reached from the sitting room through a broad open entrance & with a traditional family kitchen table in its center, is flanked, to one side, by beautifully hand-crafted fittings & a professional chef's SMEG kitchen range. A glass door to the rear of the kitchen leads to the outside terrace &, set beneath the shade of the wisteria-covered pergola, the outside dining area with gas BBQ.
Beyond the kitchen & at the base of the stone-stepped stairs leading to the first floor, a door leads onto the downstairs powder room with WC while a second door leads to the utility/laundry room with a clothes dryer and a washing machine.
Also on the ground floor, & accessed through another broad passageway to the left of the kitchen, is the first of the main building’s 4 bedrooms. This beautiful double-bedded room with its wrought-iron bed frame, solid antique furnishings & exposed stone fireplace leads onto its own en-suite bathroom with bathtub incorporating a glass-doored shower. Like all the bedrooms at Travigne, there is the added summer benefit of a central ceiling fan, a rare amenity in rental properties.
On the first floor of the main house is the main building’s master bedroom, a large double-bedded room with views across the front gardens to the vineyards, fields & hills beyond, again with a wrought-iron bed frame & filled with well-chosen antique furnishings. The luxurious en-suite bathroom features both a bathtub & separate glassed shower.
To the right of the landing, doors lead to two further bedrooms, a double & a twin, both furnished to the same high standards as the other bedrooms & sharing a third bathroom, again beautifully tiled & with a bathtub incorporating a glass-doored shower.
