About My Custom
Rods:

The majority of my rods are what I call fishing tools; they do not include the intricate thread work that has become synonymous with "Custom Rods". Instead, most of my customers prefer to have their rod built using good quality components, in the colors they prefer, and to fit their intended use.
As with most custom rods, my rods are lighter than their factory built counterpart. This is, to a great part, due to not using the final "overcoat" that most factories use. Attention is paid to building on the "spine" of the blank which is often overlooked by the factories and many beginning builders. Special attention is also given to "fitting" the guides to the blank to eliminate pressure points. On many heavy duty rods, like Flipping rods, the guides are under wrapped to further protect the blank. Only the most durable finishes are used to ensure your rod will give you many years of enjoyment.
As stated above, most of my customers prefer the more functional rods. However, I also build many rods that include custom butt wraps and hand turned wooden handles using many native and some exotic woods. These rods are both beautiful and functional but do cost more and tend to be a little heavier and not quite as durable. Many options are available, call or e-mail to discuss what you want.
The sky is the limit. Your new rod can be as plain or as fancy as you desire, it can be built to match your boat, it can have your name on it, or it can commemorate a special day or event. You make the call.
