Caine enters a martial-arts tournament sponsored by a scheming industrialist (Mako) who stole
Caine's true love 30 years before - and who still harbors a grudge against the priest. Chan returns
as Li Sung's head of security, and invites Caine to the tournament to "stir up the pot." Chan has
learned that Tan had been a protege to Li Sung, as well as the fact that Li Sung's paramour was
once Caine's love. Peter follows Caine, under the auspices of a joint police

Caine enters what he calls "a twilight world between life and death" seeking to help a critically
injured Peter who lies comatose. Caine finds himself face to face with Peter's demons, and
struggles with Peter's sense of betrayal and abandonment in an effort to help his son return to life.
(Note: Richard Side is the name of one of the writers on the show (Possessed and Innocent);

The Ancient (Kim Chan) fears the spirit of an evil Chinese warrior "will devour a succession of
human lives" unless Caine can exorcise it from its latest victim, Lawrence Patterson (Geraint Wyn
Davies - Nick Knight of Forever Knight). Coming face to face with the demon Sung Gwai in his
own domain, Caine is taken over; it is only Peter's love and the fact that he reaches into that

A powerful Chinese warlord (Al Leong) who's desperate to save his dying father demands that

Flashback: Young Peter tells Caine of the vow he swore with one of his friends and how it is
affecting his decision over which side to choose in a fight.

The Innocent
ad: A death row decision is in Caine's hands!

Serving on a jury, Caine stands alone in believe a Viet Nam vet innocent of murder. Caine refuses
to budge from his belief in the defendant's innocence, confounding the jury foreman, whose wife
and children are threatened by Blackwell's thugs. Gradually, the jury begins to question their
original verdict, at the same time Peter's coroner friend Nickie discovers that his old mentor missed
the fact that the victim had been killed by two people, not one. Caine projects himself into the
police department to give Peter a note with the address of the family, and Peter and Jody subdue
the criminals. While Caine is cross-examining Blackwell in court, at the permission of Judge
Reynolds, Peter and Jody show up with Blackwell's confederates. Blackwell takes Reynolds
prisoner at gunpoint, but Caine and Saul (the shoe-shiner) stop him. Judge Reynolds: Mimi Kuzyk;
