HOMESCHOOLING IN TEXAS WORKS FOR US...CAN IT WORK FOR YOU TOO?
Texas welcomes the homeschooling community with OPEN ARMS. In my opinion it is the premier state to raise a homeschooling family. For you may do so completely FREE of REGULATION. Compliments the Texas State Constitution.
My family qualifies as a non tax funded educational institution. Does yours?
How do you know if your family qualifies?
It's quite simple, if your family DOES NOT ACCEPT TAX funds from the state in any way shape or form be it vouchers, UIL participation, enrollment in special needs classes or otherwise, YOUR FAMILY QUALIFIES!! I don't know of any homeschooling families that wouldn't. Do you? The State of Texas distinguishes the separation of tax funded educational institutions Vs. non tax funded institutions at the very beginning of the Texas Education Code also known as the TEC.
THE STATE ONLY REGULATES THOSE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS USING STATE TAX FUNDING.
Here's a copy of the TEC from the very beginning of the code:
CHAPTER 1.GENERAL PROVISIONS
Sec. 1.001. APPLICABILITY
(a) This code applies to all educational institutions supported in whole or part by state tax funds unless specifically excluded by this code.

I like to keep a copy on hand just in case any public school officials knock on my door. Most people are ignorant to the state law, homeschoolers and public school officials alike.

WHERE HAS THE TRUTH BEEN HIDING AND WHY?
When I read the TEC from the beginning and realized that I was exempt from the whole code, being my home is a non tax funded educational institution as classified by the very precise definition of the code. Furthermore 99.9% of other Texas homeschooling families would also fall into the same category. I was extremely sad and maddened all at the same time. I wondered, where had the truth been hiding and who had been hiding it?
After all this is the single most pertinent information a homeschooling family must have, to answer the question, CAN I LEGALLY HOMESCHOOL IN TEXAS?
Most homeschoolers are only familiar with the Compulsory Attendance section of the code. Why? Good question. Another question might be, Why is this vital information missing from most Texas homeschooling resource material? Why is it also missing from ALL publications of the legal defense associations on both the state and national level?
In my opinion this information is intentionally being withheld from tens of thousands of Texian Homeschoolers for the SOLE PURPOSE OF MILKING US OUT OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS! Another question I have needs to be directed to THSC and HSLDA: DOES THIS NOT CONSTITUTE FRAUD? Why is it THSC and HSLDA seem to be undermining the homeschooling community they claim to represent?
Here's just one example, by continuing to go before the state legislators requesting special provisions for homeschooling UIL participation, whereby if ever enacted all Texian Homeschoolers whom participated could be opening themselves up to total state regulation. I don't know of any homeschooling families that would actually participate in (tax funded) UIL activities if they knew it would cost them their FREEDOM.

JUSTICE FOR ALL TEXIAN HOMESCHOOLERS
Thankfully, to date, the great State of Texas has continued to serve the homeschooling community well by upholding the law. As it continues to recognize the limits set by definition in the State Constitution.
If you are a non tax funded educational institution then go forth FREELY, FEARLESSLY, EARNESTLY, EAGERLY and teach your children well!
All the while acknowledged and PROTECTED by proclamation versed within THE CONSTITUTION OF THE (GREAT) STATE OF TEXAS!
Take time to learn the truth. For we as Texian Home Educators must UNITE to HALT LEGAL FRAUD. Fraud that has maligned our basic perception of state law and by doing so threatens OUR INDIVIDUAL LIBERTIES.
