Welcome to the 3rd Regiment PACS/Department of Northern Virginia!

We are an association of independent Confederate Civil War reenactment units who cooperatively attend selected mid-level events to educate the public about our country's history from April 1861 until April 1865.

Headquartered in Central Pennsylvania, our units are geographically located east and west from Eastern Pennsylvania into Eastern Ohio, south into Maryland and West Virginia, and north into Southern New York.

Collectively, we support regional high-quality mid-level events. Criteria for events include a location on at least 70 acres in the country with convenient location, high-quality amenities, quality sutlers, and reasonably priced concessions.

As the 3rd Regiment of the 1st Legion Provisional Army of the Confederate States Inc. (PACS), we strive to enhance this educational experience for reenactors and the public by working with other organizations to build a stronger reenacting community. To create a balance of attendance on both sides, it is our pleasure to  work with our counterpart Birney's Division, a Union organization commanded by Major General Ed Kelley.

If your unit has questions or is interested in participating with our organization,  please feel free to contact me.

Your obedient servant,

Colonel Mark Essig
