Dennis González (b. 1954) had a highly successful international jazz career from 1978 until 1994, when it all came to a grinding halt. A career educator, he continued teaching his North Dallas High School Mariachi group, which kept him busy with 4 or 5 gigs a week during the school year, and he continued exhibiting his art and writing his words. But he was totally dissatisfied with the world of jazz, and decided to stop playing until his sons asked him to form the trio Yells At Eels with them in May of 1999. In the nine years since the inaugural Dallas concert, they have logged tens of thousands of road and air miles playing all over the U.S. and Europe, and have recorded 5 CD's and participated in two other internationally acclaimed recordings. And even with all the touring and recording with Yells At Eels, he still finds time to work with many other jazz groups around the world, and teaches full time at Spence Learning Center and TAG Academy in the Dallas ISD.
Aaron González (b. 1980) is 27 and a bassist who worked with autistic adolescents at Hillcrest High School and North Dallas High School in Dallas for 3 years. He studied English at Mountain View College and at The University of North Texas in Denton. For two years, he worked as a bilingual (Spanish/English) ESOL aide at Greiner Middle School in Dallas, Texas. He plays with the hardcore/punk duo Akkolyte with his brother, Stefan. He is also bassist for his father's Tejano/Norteña quartet, Banda de Brujos. His latest project is his own punk/prog rock quartet, Life-Death Continuum. He has worked on four recording projects the past few months: his own solo vocal project, free jazz group Unconscious Collective’s newest compositions, Alvin Fielder Trio’s newest recording, A Measure of Vision, and Dennis Gonzalez Jnaana Septet's upcoming recording on Poland's NotTwo Records label, The Gift of Discernment. His new record company is called Inner Realms Outer Realms Records. The first release on his record label is by Yells At Eels and is titled Geografía. He plays with the Portuguese jazz group Humanization Quartet.
Stefan González (b.1985) is a 22-year-old drummer who studied Journalism for two years at Mountain View College. He attended Arts Magnet High School in Dallas, studying mallets and percussion. He also attended North Dallas High School where he studied Jazz, Mariachi, and Hispanic music. He is the founder of his own hardcore/punk magazine and record label, FxTxFx Productions, and plays drums in Akkolyte, Yells At Eels, and his own hardcore punk group, Just Another Consumer. He is working on his first CD as leader, with his harmolodic jazz trio Unconscious Collective – with guests Matt Lavelle, Carl Smith, Alvin Fielder, and Leena Conquest. He also led a jazz orchestra in Mexico City at Café Jazzorca in November 2006, and did a punk tour in Mexico and in the western US in the spring and fall of 2007 with the punk group Rat Salad. He is also in the Portuguese jazz group Humanization Quartet. His contributions to A Measure of Vision and The Gift of Discernment, are also immense, as are his brother's.
Both Stefan and Aaron toured Portugal in May and June of 2007 and are on tour in Europe in April of 2008 with Humanization Quartet, which is led by guitarist Luis Lopes and includes saxophonist Rodrigo Amado.
