Interfaith Spiritual Center, Portland OR
Coordinate networking efforts, public and media relations; provide organizational development support
and communal discernment for the first interfaith spiritual direction center in Portland; offer individual and
group spiritual direction; host workshops, classes and retreats for diverse organizations, communities and
individuals. The Interfaith Spiritual Center is an expanding venture comprised of spiritual directors and
educators from various traditions: Taoist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic, Unitarian-Universalist, Buddhist and
New Thought.
Mental Health Supervisor / Clinical Specialist [part-time] 09/97 – 06/00
ProtoCall Services, Inc. / MetroCrisis Suicide Line, Portland OR
Supervised volunteers providing crisis intervention and triage, intake and assessment for local crisis lines;
developed and executed trainings for volunteers and staff; provided telephone crisis management services
for national employee assistance programs, crisis lines and managed-care programs from all over the
nation; also introduced services and developed contracts for national companies purchasing our 24-hour
crisis line and intake services.

Eastrose Unitarian Universalist Fellowship, Gresham, OR
Developed systems to support small fellowship community in recruiting, orienting and maintaining new
members; provided a welcoming presence to visitors and potential members.
Ryan White HIV Services Planning Council Coordinator 09/96 – 10/97
Multnomah County Health Department, Portland OR
Supervised the operations of the Federal Ryan White Care Act Portland Area Planning Council that
established funding priorities for federally-funded services for people living with HIV/AIDS in six counties;
maintained relations with community providers and consumers; represented the Planning Council and the
Heath Department through meetings, media and service provider networks; coordinated volunteers and
committee members; supported the board which was comprised of agency executive directors and service
consumers.
Director, State of Illinois AIDS Hotline 07/93 – 08/95
Horizons Community Services, Chicago IL
Managed a 24-hour phone line providing HIV/AIDS information, referral and counseling services to
residents of Illinois and lower Wisconsin; supervised social workers and resource counselors; recruited,
trained and managed diverse volunteer base of over 90 people; developed and directed services with
other community organizations; functioned as liaison to the Illinois Department of Public Health; oversaw
strategic planning processes; managed daily operations and program budgets.

grant proposals and maintained relations with private and government funders; created new support and

for direct services volunteers; managed operations and supervised health education staff.

first support group in Chicago for people with mental illness and HIV infection; developed client-centered
