A Testimonial
I wanted to take a moment now that the votes have been counted in the Fayetteville Mayor's race, to share with you my reasons for lending my support to Dan Coody's candidacy.
As many of you may know, I was one of Cyrus Young's strongest supporters in the first round of balloting. I make no apologies for this. I still believe Cyrus is an exemplary public servant, and would make a fine mayor, but the reality is that he is no longer in the race.
We have a very clear choice before us when we return to the voting booth. We can vote to strengthen the stranglehold on city government enjoyed by the current administration and the institutions that support it, or we can seek a new beginning for all the people of Fayetteville. Let me make it clear that I am not motivated by any personal animus toward the current mayor or his supporters. I am, however, absolutely convinced that through their actions in the recent past, they have abandoned all moral authority to govern.
It is time for a change.
As the former Volunteer Coordinator for the Young campaign, I strongly urge my friends and neighbors to join me in supporting Dan Coody as our best hope for an open and responsive city government.
