All About The Tunnels
Tunnels are often traps for dogs, tunnels can suck the novice dog right in ( A trap is when there are two obstacles besides one another and the "trap" is the obstacle the dog is not suppose to take) Such as the picture in the above-right corner.
~The Tunnel is the 3rd obstacle above
Tunnels are often one of the dogs most favorite obstacle.
When I have the weave poles then tunnel, Jake somtimes will not finish the weaves and go straight in the tunnel
*Tunnels come in all different colors.
*Tunnels are usally 10-20 feet in length.
Well you dont usually make tunnels, but you can buy them.
If you buy a play tunnel, then make sure you buy two or make sure it is at least 10'.
Making Tunnels
If want you a competition tunnel (which is a lot of $money$) click here and here is an example of one.
If your doing this for fun, then my advise is to buy a childrens play tunnel from Toys R' Us, or K-bee's toy stores. They are about $10-30.
*Remember To Make Agility Fun, because it was your idea not your dogs.
Training Tunnels

*Starting*

First start with one tunnel (should be 5 or 6 feet)
Lie it straight on the ground (Picture To The Right)
Use supporters to make sure it doesn't roll
Sit or lie your dog down on one opening
Tell you dog to "stay"
Thread the leash if you want , through the tunnel
Bend down so he can see you through the tunnel
Use treates and praise to call him through
Use your word you choosed, such as "tunnel"
Many treats and rewards when he comes through
Next, bend and lengthen the tunnel a little at a time, until he enters a semi-circle shaped tunnle.

This is a challenge for even a experienced agility dog. Teach this with the "in" and "out" commands. Out would be the red tunnel and in would be the green. As he gains confidence, he will be more skilled with this and you'll become a better handler.
