My Mom's Problem
My Mom’s Problem

About one year ago, my mom had Lasik Eye Surgery. She had had dry eyes in the past, so she could only wear her contacts a couple hours a day. Which left only one
alternative to see, glasses. My mom had worn glasses since third grade. So, when the surgery came out, she jumped at the opportunity to be relieved of wearing anything to see. She asked the doctor that was to perform the surgery if having dry eyes would be a complication to the surgery. The doctor said that people get cause they have dry eyes and can’t wear contacts.

A few weeks after the surgery, my mom felt that her eyes felt much drier than they had in the past. She went back to her doctor and he said it was a minor complication and would go away within a month or so.

Well, a few months later, she still felt that there wasn’t a sufficient amount of moisture in her eyes. She went back to the doctor and he diagnosed her with a mild case of dry eyes. To my mom, however, her eyes were unbearable.

For at least the past eight months, my mom has been going from doctor to doctor. They have all said that she has severe dry eyes and that there’s nothing they can do for her. For at least the past seven months, she has been on 5 different kinds of drops.

Ever since the surgery, her life has changed dramatically. I am afraid for her.
