10' Diameter Shelter
The solar heated 10' diameter shelter is being used as a shelter for pygmy goats. The headroom is approximately 6 feet. If supplied with a simple awning, the structure would make an excellent low cost simple shelter for earthquake, tornado, and war victims. The construction is simple and the cost was approximately $250 at 1999 midwest U.S. prices. The size is comparable to a standard family tent, but with more useable room. The base is simply made from 4x4 CCA lumber.

A gin-pole is used to support the partially assembled shelter. Sections of roof flashing are used along with 3/4" screws to temporary hold structure together. Glue and caulk along with wood biscuits are used in the assembly process. The base is comprised of 10 lengths of 4x4 CCA. A come along is attached to the top of the gin-pole as well as to a short piece of 2x4 inside the top vent hole of the shelter
