Well, where do I start?" DONNIE DEE and THE DIAMONDS "got together a while ago (which means They are old AND experienced--lol) They played their own area for a time then branched out to ROCHESTER, ITHACA, SYRACUSE,etc. Later, in the early 70's They ended up in SYRACUSE,N.Y. They changed Their name to "THE ACT IV" playing such places as MR. MIKE'S, SAMI KEES, SOO LIN'S, FOUR CHOICES and last but not least, THE JOLLY ROGER. (the original JOLLY ROGER ) The band really cooked and They drew the biggest crowds in the city. They got offers from all over the city but They stayed on at the JOLLY ROGER for quite a while playing 6 nights a week. In the late 70's the band broke up and we all went on our merry way. DONNIE DEE went to LAS VEGAS to become a star ( lol ) AND , for the most part, did a single act. He worked with a group for a couple of gigs. DONNIE DEE changed his name to DON JAY ( thought it would help-- it didn't). DON JAY was written up by one critic as having "the best new voice to hit VEGAS in 15 years". (the critic never made it either) He left VEGAS (although He loves VEGAS ) and came home to GENEVA ,N.Y. He did a single act at TOM'S CLAM COVE in SYRACUSE,N.Y.(another good place that's gone) and also did private parties as a single act but got awfully lonely working by himself.
He really missed playing with a band. He called BOBBY McGEE who used to work with THE ACT 1V and They decided to get back together. Missing two men they couldn't use the name "THE ACT IV" so They changed it to"DEE & MCGEE". That brings us up to the present time. In the meantime,DONNIE takes bookings as a single act as DONNIE DEE.
DONNIE also works with various local groups from time to time.
