In college, I have been involved with Rotary International as well as Austin College's ROTARACT in a number of projects, ranging from the US to Africa and even Mongolia. Having dedicated my college career to an increased understanding of the world around us, I truly appreciate such an organization whose focus is world peace and goodwill. Rotary has consistently contributed to international peace through its massive member network and the vast resources available to it. I attended a presentation on Mongolian geological and resource mining opportunities while feasting on cow tongue at the Ulaan Baatar Rotary Club in Mongolia. Returning to the US, I participated in numerous Rotary events, presenting my research and promoting an understanding of Mongolian affairs. The paper that I presented, “The International Mongolian Economy,” was recently published in the Southwest Conference for Asian Studies journal. I am currently working to raise funding for the African Hope School, a home for Sudanese refugee children in Cairo, Egypt. Our donations provide them access to what they hope for, food and education. Please visit my site that discusses this AC ROTORACT 2003 project. Please feel free to download this brochure for more details of our project and how you might help. The Rotary International web page has extensive information on their programs and international efforts. |
