This website is being created to honor the memory of my beloved brother, James Edward Marshall. He wrote, and illustrated over 70 children's books during his career, which have been published all over the world. The current HBO television program 'GEORGE & MARTHA', is shown twice a day, seven days a week. It is based on the 'George & Martha' books he created. I called him Jimmy. Our Grandmother, Lillian Marshall, called him 'Jim-Jam', my children ( Alexander Christian, Juretta Laurette, and Travis Len), called him Uncle Jim. Our Dad called him Jimmy and our Mother called him Jim.
Through the years I have collected many photographs and lots of memorabilia, along with wonderful memories of my brother. It is my intention, to put on display in this site, all that I possibly can to give the viewer greater insight into his life.
UPDATE!!!! There was a school somewhere around Alpine, Texas I believe that sent in a wonderful photo of all the children in the class and a very unusual display that they had made to honor James. Unfortunately, the photo and Email address got lost in the ozones before I could respond, or post it to this site. If anyone knows who sent the photo in and could possibily resend it, I would love to post it to this site. Thank-you. The e-mail address to send it to is:

Jimmy loved water. He was half fish. One of his favorite things to do was sunbathe wherever he chanced to be. He soaked up the warm rays of the sun in Texas, in Paris, in Rome, and Connecticut. Some of my most fond memories, are of the times we spent together swimming. His home in Mansfield Hollow, Connecticut, was within walking distance of a beautiful river. His love of nature rubbed off on me. Even today, I must live near the water. He spent many hours on visits with my Mother, sunbathing and drawing by the pool. I think much of his creative genius was somehow fueled by the sun. It was one thing that made us both happy. I watch 'GEORGE & MARTHA' on HBO every day and I just love all the fun, happy things that they do outside in the fresh air, and it makes me smile, because so many of the things they do remind me of my childhood with Jimmy being my big brother.
As my children were growing up, we had many happy times together, and we all loved a special, private place we were blessed to visit, called' THE ISLAND', in New Braunfels, Texas. Jimmy loved to cruise around in old canoes. Yes, water was an important part of his life.
