Rebel (Hi-Vue) Drive-In Theatre

The Rebel Drive-In Theatre,
also known as The Hi-Vue Drive-In Theatre

Located about 1 mile West of Dublin, Texas on State Hiway 6. These photos were taken in 1994. I don't know when it closed. I found an old feature schedule indicating it last showed x-rated movies. The equipement was still there then but has since been sold and gone. I was by there on 11/25/01 and the screen and buildings were still standing. Those speakers are gone. I wish now I had been unlawful and saved some of them.

We may need some new popcorn seasoning. These old lamp houses are waiting in case those new bulbs fail.

These are some old ad calenders from the days when they showed xxx movies on Sun. Mon. and Tues. and regular features on Fri. and Sat.
Dublin still has the Oldest Dr. Pepper Bottling Plant in the world. They still use real Imperial Pure Cane Sugar and returnable glass bottles. OLD DOC'S SODA SHOP is at the back of the plant. Go there for a visit. Here is another site with a tour.
